Wide mouth is not always tapered.

Hello everybody,

Read about every post here about tapered/wide mouth.

There are 2 kinds of wide mouth squatty jars that i see. Both are wide mouthed. One is clearly tapered from bottom to top, getting wider at the top. The other is straight, no taper, but is still wide mouthed.

I can find wide mouthed non tapered. Will this matter? I've gone high and low, seems to be only one brand carried around here.

thanks

You should be ok with the ones that don't taper and are still wide mouthed. It may be a little harder to get out, but with a little persistence and some shaking, you should be able to get that little baby out of there. As long as they don't have some sort of shoulder at the top to where it gets more narrow at the top, then you should be just fine. Got get em and fill em up!!!

Wide mouth pints are tapered.
Wide mouth quarts are not.

Very simple.

Sorry...I didn't realize it was that simple. Since the original poster didn't specify, I assumed he was talking about the 1/2pt jars. Was just trying to help him out.
