I tried the search function but I could not get the info that I was looking for.
Is one better than the other?
Thanks

My only requirement is that they have the measurements on the sides of the jars! From a utilitarian point of view, they preform the same.

They are probably made in the same factory, as well.

For all intents and purposes, these two jars are identical in capacity and quality. There is one glaring difference between the two and that's measurement graduations on the side. The Ball jars have them, but they do not exist on the Kerr jars.
Now these jars are made by the same company, probably made in the same factory, but the Ball jar is far superior for making liquid cultures. If you're like me and want to know how much LC you have left at any given time, you'll seek out the Ball jars. If you want to do grains and don't care about reading a measurement, you'll get the readily available Kerr brand.
The second option for those of us who make a lot of LC is to find yourself a case of Ball jars somewhere and simply use the tick marks side by side with a Kerr jar. Just hold your Ball jar next to the Kerr jar and read the level from the other to the marks on the side. Works fine.
Some people may find the Ball jars just as easy to find as the Kerr.

kerr are usually cheaper (pint jars $6.77 a doz @ wal-mart). as for measuring, just use a graduated or conical cylinder. they're more accurate than the jars.
