get them Pedros in their own pots and make them nice big pots. if given enough rootspace they will grow fast. nice pedros BTW and yeah use the same method for cuttings

i wasnt sure if they were seperate, but now ill re-pot them.
my huge cactus in the back, can i graft things to it like my pedros, or maybe lophs?

yeah as long as the spot your grafting too isn't too old and woody at the core. pick a spot of newer growth at the top. if it is a huge cactus then it could make your Pedros grow quick. I think it would make lophs grow too fast but I am not sure.

if my san pedros are about as fat as a soda can, how many loph's can i graft on a cut? and do i do the same thing when i cut the pedros as i would for a pereskopsis(sp?) and cut one inch off the top, (or "below" the top)?

well anyway, heres some more pics of just stuff
the big cactus is the one that ive been mentioning throughout this thread. can i ask for an i.d. in this thread or will i get in trouble for that?
the smaller cacti are the same genus...of which i dont know either. they were growing near the large one.
the flowers are on the large one.
and a Chirimoya...i got it from a cuban friend, anyone know what it is? now i know theres many grafting teks i can look up, but one that might not give such a straight answer to my next question, so Royer9864[M], please bare with me...
the little cacti that i have are growing very rapidly, could they be used to graft onto?

It can be used. If I'm not mistaken pretty much any fast growing cacti is suited as grafting-stock.

i got two 3 new little cacti, unsure of what they are(any guess'), the two in the same pot i grabbed cuz they look kinda like pedros, the lil fatty i got cuz my girlfriend liked it...
the picture of the one cut, is new growth from the behemouth(sp?) in the pics b4, im drying it out now to try and re-pot it soon. its just soooo humid and rainy in FL that i dont know if itll ever dry out.
SWEET:that all my cacti are graft-able-onto-able!!!
ill shut up, and heres some pics

might prefer it warmer... my room runs at 90-95f and they grow quite quickly... no way as fast as the trichos, but by no means a slow grower...

update folks!!!
more pics
first one is my entire garden as of right now. i re-potted everything, seperated my myrtle and my pedro into their own pots!
the second pic is my 6 lophophora willamsii seeds finally in their bed!

tomorrow i will pick up some grit to place over the top of the peyote. the white sticks are marking their locations. about how long do i wait now(on average) before they sprout?
and should i bother ordering some pereskiopsis cuttings for grafting, or do i have a good enough selection going so far?
one last Question. all these cacti are outdoors in s.w. Florida, which means right now they get a light rain EVERY day, sometimes a heavy one. my pots have great drainage also. today the high was 84 degrees, so all around its perfect weather for growing...but im new to cacti!...anyway, will this weather be ok for the cacti i have going, and more importantly for my grafts. bringing big ass cactus inside, is not an option for winter(which last year we only had one day that went below freezing. will they all make it?

wait till they sprout before u add grit to the top of the pot... or they may not sprout at all... 1-2 weeks is a usual kind of time frame for cactus seeds to germinate... the soil should be saturated to start also.
all your cacti will go into dormancy when the temps are consistantly below 50f... at that time make sure the soil is dry or the roots will rot... if your expecting freezing temps u will have to bring them inside im afraid... they would probably be ok for a very short time if the soil is completely dry, but i wouldnt risk it if i were u!
carrying a few pots inside is is better then all your cacti turning to mush. the pedros are probably the most cold hardy of the lot. certainly loph seedlings will not survive, u should probably keep those inside all winter.

ok, well then ill make sure i graft the loph's to something small enough that i can bring the pots inside and put them under a flouro.
i have a screened in lanai, and im actually askin santa claus for a 9'x 9' portable greenhouse, and hopefully it keeps them sheltered so they wont get soggy, cold rain in the winter, and i will cut their watering down to almost nothing. our winter goes by fast!
my morning glories are starting to sprout, are they winter resiliant? im planting them along my chain link fence, they will climb this like a vine and be ok correct?

a greenhouse should provide enough protection for your cacti over your short winter... at least it will keep them dry and frost free (if u get any frost) the way the climate is these days u should prepare for any extreme weather i guess... never know wot mother nature will throw at us these days...
btw: how is a 9 foot square greenhouse ever portable?

More like a tree, I've seen pics of ones up to 7' tall, so you'd need more room.
And an oil drum is a large metal cylinder they ship oil in.. An empty one of those is enough room for the roots.

well if you didnt let it dry
(which it can dry anywhere so i dont know why you say you dont have anyplace to dry it)
then it will rot, if you water your pedro then it wiill rot because it has no roots and can not be in moist/wet soil until it does.

well its always humid outside, and its cold inside, so i assumed it wouldnt dry in either location. the cut was dried up, but not scabbed over really. and im not watering my pedros right now, the 3 minute sprinkle i get everyday is all the water its getting, just enough to moisten the top of the soil.

a few quick questions for those of you following this.
my loph that sprouted, how long do i keep him under saran wrap and inderect light? im not gonna graft my first ones.
my morning glory sprouts are getting murdered by the sun.
my San Pedros are getting light brown scabs around their spines/spikes(what are they called?) ill get a pic up soon(tryin to stay clean for the night so i can play with my shroomies) but do you think it might be a fungus or some unwanted disease?
and a cutting from my large cacti in my back yard has been drying now for about a week+, the cut has scabbed beautifully, but the ribs are starting to turn brown and sink in, inbetween the spines...what gives?
thanks, Just Me

until it matures, keep in indirect light for its lifetime, until its more mature rather than a seedling then you can give it a few hours of morning sun then afternoon shade away from harsh sun. keep your mg's away from direct sunlight, i had to find out the hard way
im not sure
if your cutting is in any sunlight then it will get thirsty can cant drink be sure hes in darkness or total shade

no no, indirect light for its life take off the plastic covereing when the seedling is well established and can handle air. you use wrap to keep the humidity and protect the seedling from dry air, they are delicate and sensitive to air. wing them air as soon as they mature, like everyday take off the wrap for a few hours then put it back on a few hours till it gets used to being exposed

With my loph. seedlings I usually waited a month/month 1/2 before slowly getting them used to fresh air and light levels slightly stronger than indirect sunlight from a windowsill. Seemed to work quite well. You'll enjoy the cacti hobby, I certainly do. Good luck.
