    #7444369 - 09/23/07 03:04 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

so a few of my rye jars seem to look fully colonized:

does it look like it to you?

I shook the one on the left and after shaking it it obviously doesnt look as colonized:

is that how its supposed to look when you case it??
any advise appreciated

I know how to case
the confusion is whether or not those jars are ready to be cased

last grow I used BRF so not sure what the fully colonized rye should look like after its shaken up

I would give it more time. After you shake them up, expect the mycelium to pretty much disappear. But you want the grains to be as covered as possible to minimize contam. In my experience its worth waiting for more colonization.

Just wait it out a bit longer, I know its exciting to want to go ahead with it... Cheers!

if you consider those jars in the pic fully colonized Id say somewhere around 2-3 days

ananda - so I shook up about 10 of the jars that look similar to those in the picture, may take your advise and wait for it to recolonize or whatever and then case
