dont toss it out. its likely just wet spot. in my experience, the mycelium colonizes right over it in a few days.
the jar should be fine.

Isnt that a metabolite? If if is, then that'd tell me that your mushrooms found a contaminate and are trying to kill it. Isolate and wait IMO

Absolute worst case scenario, you can remove the cake and cut off the uncolonized portion. Take a solution of 1 gallon luke warm water, 5% bleach, 1-2 drops of iodine, and give the cake a bath. This will kill a good portion of bacteria/mold. The mycelia will not be harmed during this process.
I had a bulk substrate catch a similar mold and performed the same operation with 100% success. That substrate fruited for 4 months without any problems and only stopped fruiting because it was time.

To me it sounds like it's just a bit of either...
a - brown-rice-flour that got burnt during sterilization. b - some metabolites excreted by the mycelium because it found, and killed, a tiny contaminate at the bottom of the jar.
--- in either case, wait a couple days and see if it spreads, if not, it's fine...

Don't mistake my tone for a "matter-of-fact" attitude. I'm just presenting what I believe to be correct, until I'm corrected... - How Myco-Curious Prepares Coir & Compost Substrates - How Myco-Curious Builds A Bulk Humidifier - How Myco-Curious Builds An Automated Greenhouse ------------------------------------ figgusfiddus said: Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.

Naw it wasn't the brown rice flour...I'm gonna go with the Luke Warm, 2 Drops of Iodine and 5% Bleach method...DO I DUNK THEM IN HERE FOR 24 HOURS? or just give it a bath? I don't ever touch my jars without Sanitizer or gloves...the rusty spot is on the mycelium....there now colonizing on the bottom part of the jar so I flipped them...Thank you for your help...Couldn't of done it without Shroomery

I would go ahead and give them a bath for about 15 minutes, drain the water, then move forward with dunking and rolling as you normally would.
