It looks like the first patch is located under...a peach plum tree? I have one of those in my garden....a biggun too.
all the plants that P. cyanencens love are in my yard, but no wavy caps so far!
Nice finds!

No, the first plant is a normal Rhododendron bush... I don't really know what "peach plums" are (I know either the one OR the other fruit ) But it is none...

Two days after my last visit I returned to pick some -meanwhile matured- Fruits. It keeps raining and the temps are VERY pleasing for my little sweethearts Another 1.5 Kg (estimated )
Although the pics almost exactly look like the last ones, I think it's better than nothing
Enjoy!

Although you seem to get bored by my posts (I know... it's always the same), I keep posting as long as the season keeps goin'. The last two days were REALLY successful, since the over all haul was 12 Kg!!! Again estimated
Unfortunately the two flowing patches were quiet big, so there are no pics of mushroom-oceans, but I took quiet a lot. Hopefully you like them

And I especially like this one

After a few strong frosty nights, I thought there was no more real hope to find anything, but I was wrong. As you can see, plenty of the mushrooms are marked by the temperatures but I was happy to see, that these fucks are quiet strong and don't fuck up as fast as many other species do. I found quiet a lot, though they don't grow as dense as they used to do, when the weather was a little better.

I especially like these pics:

And even more these two. I love that blue colour

Fahkface - what are the temps in your area? We have -1 to 2 now, and I've yet to find anything promising .. is your habitat shielded somewhat from wind/rain, or under a canopy of trees? And I'm guessing that that's nothing but woodchips and alders around that area? ..

Well, there has to be wood chips around in the areas you hunt, otherwise you'll never find anything. The current temps are about 5 degrees. Night temps are close to zero. As I said, most of this weeks nights were about -3 degrees, which causes most mushrooms to fuck up a little... Concerning the shieling of my patches I have to say, that it's always different. Most patches are between and under bushes, but some are actually quiet open...
Good luck

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

a patch like that is likely the result of the introduction of contaminated mulch/woodchips. it is likely not very old. you tend to see the flourishing eruptions after thefirst year of establishment but while they are still young, vigorous and the habitat is rich with new substrate. is subsequent years, the colony will consume more and more of the material, competetive organisms will take hold the the patch will come into balance with other species, much the same as a vegetable garden that is not tended for a season.

Since I "have" about 35 Patches going on right now, and keep finding new ones, as other people (who might just not be so lucky) find Psathyrella patches, I'm not really afraid of running out of them. Anyway, a good balanced patch is worth a lot, since it's just BEAUTIFUL and interesting. The funny, little mushrooms you get from it, are just a nice side effect
The hypothetical total haul of this season Is more or less 6.5 dry pounds. I still have an hypothetical ass load of last years mushies left... I wouldn't really know what to do with them... Thank god the picking and drying was just a product of my imagination

god damn man you are mushroom picking machine. How are you able to find so many differnt patches. I have only found 2 small patches of maybe a quarter dried in each patch. I am looking all around the Everett area of Washington in mulched areas and flower beds and stuff with wood chips but never find and actives besides like twice. Where are you located that you are so fortunate??
