G. Applanatum Tea: What Parts?

I have a large artist's conk and was wondering how I should prepare it. Found it as a living specimen, drew on it some, and now want to take a chunk out of it and make some tea. I don't want to take too big of a chunk out of it though as I like the artwork I drew on it. What should I keep and what should I discard, if anything? Thanks

Only two posts down is a duplicate thread asking the exact same question. RR

Yea, and the answer isn't as clear as it could be. Should I only use the inner material that hasn't been exposed?

If you don't like the answer, maybe you could ask for clarification rather than spamming with another thread.

Hi chojin,
Thank you for asking. I just put the whole mushrooms cut in half in the pot. I believe RogerRabit suggested to use 1/4 inch chunks, which would have almost certainly given a stronger tea.
As for what parts, I don't know if there are any parts that are recommended to not be boiled. I also pounded some of the tissue to separate the fibers for keeping

Boil it all. I saw them into slices first. Another member posted about boiling dried dates along with reishi to help counteract the bitterness. Mrs Rabbit and I have tried that and it works well. It would probably help flavor up the G applanatum too.
Don't forget about Fomitopsis pinicola. It is one of the most common polypores world wide and has excellent medicinal properties. It's often called the 'Red-Belted Polypore'. RR
