Anybody ever recover from porn?
    #7442183 - 09/22/07 11:16 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Porn desensitizes you to the sexiness of the body of the opposite sex (and/or same sex, if you're gay/bi). When I used to look at the female body (I'm talking when I was like 8, 9, 10...) I used to get really horny :piratebattle:; now I don't get horny from looking at naked women all

Avoiding looking at porn is obviously the first step to recovery, but some damage just can't be healed.

I'm wondering if there might be some way like through physical discipline (like meditation), psychedelic drugs, etc. to regain the appreciation I had for the female body in my youth.

Honestly, you're probably past your sexual peak. Don't blame it on porn.

I was gonna say that a certain amount of desensitization is normal, as with everything in life: familiarity breeds contempt

but porn causes a lot more desensitization. I think there's a significant amount I can gain back.

Anyway, tell me more about this "sexual peak". The time in your life when sex is actually exciting? :smirk:

hahaha what an straight up put down.

I think this poor fellow just needs to go live in a cave for a month or three until he is desensitized to human contact... that should help his appreciation on all spectrums =)

That would fall under the category of "physical discipline"

no, discipline is staying with society and not viewing porn, and not undressing women with your eyes on the bus... moving to a cave and not seeing another person for a few months is several steps above on that in phycological impact.

Dude, just stop watching porn for a few weeks and maybe even avoid having sex too... if you hold out it'll build up. Don't fall back on porn to relieve the tension either, then you're back where you started. This does not preclude masturbating, just not looking at porn while you do it. Rely on your imagination instead...When you break the porn/real sex celibacy, make sure it's with a real person, not the internet. I'm sure you'll find her unbearably sexy after deprivation. :smirk:

After this experiment, I'd also recommend limiting your porn consumption for the long haul. Once a week instead of once a day perhaps?

Porn desensitizes you to the sexiness of the body of the opposite sex (and/or same sex, if you're gay/bi).

May be for you but its certainly not for me, what Ive learned when trying to appreciate something whether it be for lust or how beautiful something is, its a matter of understanding and/or feeling how to tickle your senses. I think you just dont know how so you assume you lost the ability.

as with everything in life: familiarity breeds contempt

With most things if you look hard enough you'll find something you dont like, I get the impression you focus on the negative too much.

a) Abstaining from porn will make a lot more of a difference than you think.

b) Abstaining from masturbation all together will make a LOT more of a difference.

In both cases, the answer is going to be a form of abstainence. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Too much of anything is bad for ya.

Do i remember you talking about depression not long since ?

You probably already know depression can affect your sex drive badly.
If you're feeling stuck in a rut, relying on porn, maybe you don't feel like you have the thirst for life you once had when you were younger.

I could be way off but i get the feeling porn's not the whole problem, but i don't think abstaining for a short time would hurt.

All of you guys have not answered or helped him in any way. Way to be empathetic. Is there a way to get over porn or fully recover? yes! All guys look at porn and if you say you never have you are a lier. It is a fact that we are attracted to the opposite sex, and it is a fact that we have a so called sex drive.

There are a number of ways to get over this addiction. The one thing that i did was workout. I replaced the physical action of masturbation with another. I started to lift weights in a serious manner. I joined a website that help me stay on task i enveloped myself with healthy people Me and Women. I made it where when i was by myself i always had something to do.

If you are a streaming porn kinda guy. What you can do is everything you go to get on the computer or watch TV late at night you can call one of your friends nd stay on the phone. It might sounds stupid but it will work

Masturbation is no joke it is a serious addiction. Millions of men our age and young teens suffer from it. I say master bastion is bad, i must correct myself. Masturbation is not bad, but the thoughts that come with it are. the demeaning thoughts that demoralize women are. I know none of you guys thought about pretty roses ,or fields of flowers when you beat you meat.

If you have anymore questions on what to do PM me. [/col

I refer to usb flash drives, as "Flesh Drives"...
Anyway..
Yeah.. Study it in depth, you will realize that what you're addicted to is not the site of sexual acts, or women, but the rewards system centered in the deep limbic area of the brain. Porn and masturbation are both mood altering activities just like many other things we like. And like many other addictions, you can follow the same regimen. Taper off, use a support system, abastain, and replace with a more healthy addiction. Just do it before you castrate yourself with a butter knife out of desperation. (It has been done)

Go and live in some religious and prudish country if it really bothers you. I can't say porn is erotic, but if it entertains people, then good, it wasn't made in vain. Not all of us think sex is a terrible, sinful thing. After all, you would not be here unless your parents fucked.

the only porn i like to watch now is bj porn. I have no interest in sex porn anymore.

it has definitely desensitized me. I have little interest in having sex with my girlfriend right now, I just want her to give me a blowjob. Its one of those, cant have it so you want it more than anything mindfucks.

Really sucks. I feel like i am disrespecting her and our relationship a bit, but at the same time, blame her for it. My apologies for taking this off topic.

You may think this is extreme and, hey with all the type - A personalities around here I think it's acceptable right?

Seriously,
my prescrip for porn overload is: (and you're not gonna like this)

Don't ogle any immodestly dressed women in public or in the media where you can take all the time you like, right?

Feel free to gaze appreciatively in public and just glance over the media pics but only read mags that show em clothed even though according to Hollywood standards, nearly-nude is clothed! lol

Try to even, now this is a biggie...not touch a woman for two weeks and that's even being careful not to bump anyone on the bus/subway and be careful when paying a female cash register attendant.

The longer you carry out my instructions the faster you'll regain your sensitivity.

Good luck.

Oh, and BTW....the first time you get a live girl naked...even if you're de-sensitized...you'll wake up anyway, believe me. Be sure to give her a little appreciative gasp and then smile like your b-day came early. Hopefully you won't.

You are NOT way off...I couldn't agree with you more. Now, if I'm way off then we're in trouble..lol but weriously, I think you've given sound advice that can easily be understood. Very important.

Thanks for the advice, but I think not looking at hot girls is insignificant. For one thing, I don't really even have the desire to look at hot girls because of my desensitization. Right now, I'm just waiting to do acid.

I use to actually produce porn for several years, so I had my fill of it.

Porn actually ruins your life, either you get desensitized to it all or you can never get your fill.

It leaves a scar, I've been porn free a little over a year and I don't miss it now, just press the delete key, throw some DVDs and hard drives in a fire and your all set!

I myself wound up finding Jesus and am a Christian now, so porn doesn't go well with that, so I dropped it for THE LORD and it def helped me out now.

plp think I'm more than strange tho, I don't watch TV or have one, but man I get a good show on caps hehehe

I think thats a good thing though it makes it harder for you to get off which means longer sex...which means happy partner.

for some it's a curse and for others a blessing.  for those who want to get off as fast as possible without paying (much) attention to the intimate aspects of sex are unaware of the potential of our sexual energies.  those who can go for hours and fully enjoy it cultivate sexual energy and it grows inside.  the physical bodies actually produce more heat, similarly in a state of deep meditation.  I've heard that in sexual kung fu, a couple can become so submerged in these energies that it feels as though they aren't separated by body but are harmonically attuned to circulating male and female energies.
