I actually think that if you won the lottery or something it would be hard to keep your friends. Like who would buy the drinks at a bar? You'd want to pick up the tab but people don't like to be charity cases. It's easy to get envious of someone and on the other side it can be hard to not show off, especially if you haven't always been loaded and appreciate all the new shit you can buy

Someone I know is making money like water. When he opens up a bottle of wine its usually a bottle in the $50-$100 range.
People say "aww wine is wine!" No I tell you, there's wine and there's Nectar of the Gods shit
He's a bit unhinged where it comes to recognizing the value of money. I have advised him several times to put a couple of COMEX bars of gold and silver in a swiss bank for when the whole shithouse that is the international stocks & monetary system comes tumbling down. He won't listen, his loss I guess
His wife (though a wonderful woman) is a financial nightmare. She has no notion whatsoever of the value of money. She spends a hundred bill like I would a fiver. She might not be able to survive on a normal income if her life depended on it.
They work hard for their money (60 hour weeks) but they spend it at a staggering, frightening rate. For me, I've seen hard times financially and really believe in humility in spending. It doesn't sit right with me that they waste their money on fluff while they could be a king and queen if they only looked beyond the material world.
So yes, in my experience too great material riches often go hand in hand with immaterial poverty.

Would that be Bartles or James? Either way you can thank them for me, they provided many evenings of alcoholic bliss when I was a wee lad.

Yes, I'm actually old enough to remember when wine coolers first came out. And yes, we teenagers drank them up like candy. Good old B&J original lubricated many high school parties I attended.

I gota admit I used to drink em when I was 15-16 but only because I could convince my mom to buy em for me from the grocery store but not beer. They make you sick if you drink to many.

Any way, I was jealous of this kid for a while. But now, after hanging with him and seeing a little into his life. I feel sorry for this poor bastard, and he is vary vary poor, in all the ways that matter.
Anyone else know what i mean?
