I was wondering if this news would ever make it back to you if you were one of their offspring ?

I suppose it would depend upon who was handling their post-death processing. If someone were very thorough, they could check on birth certificates registered to the decedent, and contact the offspring.
Additionally, if your parent had a will, the probate judge would contact you, and if they had a lawyer, their lawyer would contact you.

Thanks.
I was thinking about my dad who i haven't seen in 16 years. It's a long story why i don't see him, but he still lived in my city and i knew where he lived. He's about 68 i think, had a triple heart bypass years ago then continued to smoke heavily.
I passed his flat the other day, like usual only this time it looked empty. I guess anything could have happened but i can't see him moving at that age, and health wise i can believe something bad might have happened.
My dad was adopted as a child and there's no family on his side whatsoever,, so there's no one to pass on the news basically.
I wondered if they check records and stuff but i really don't know how it works,, i wasn't even sure what records may exist connecting us.

Check death records in your county. Depending on on how populous your county is, it may be a simple as calling the county clerk.
If you know his full name & birth date, you will probably be able to determine whether he died.

i've wondered this myself. i haven't spoken to my mother in 10 years (her choice not mine) and i don't have any relationship with my sibblings.
not that i would care.

Family contacts all its family, especially its immediate family. Someone'd tell you almost as soon as they found a way to contact you.

yeah, the thing is i'm an illusive bastard. the only way anybody would get in contact with is by going through my father. i'm pretty sure nobody would call the ex-husband.
like i said though. i really wouldn't care. i could really see myself hearing the news and saying sarcastically "that's a shame".

not sure
I have a feeling that my brother will tell me when our father dies, but then again, he may not because he knows I won't care

I guess that's the only way to settle any curiosity, i'd have to phone a few numbers to find the right people to ask.

I'm pretty blank on the whole thing, obviously it's going to happen eventually. I detached myself emotionally from my father years ago. It's still a strange feeling though.
