I am human

or am 'I'? There are by some 1000 different animal species living inside of 'us' (a human body), many of them essential to health; in other words we could not live without them.
So does that make them part of what it takes to be human? Are we not, in fact, a symbiotic colony disguised as a single organism? Does not 'me' more accurately refer to millions of organisms acting in concert that gives rise to the illusion of self?

I made a post(s), possibly a thread, about this a while ago (maybe even in here, somewhere...don't remember) but for the most part it was ignored
but yes, "we" (as in I or you) are not just humans. the human is only the outer shell. life is contained within, on, and outside of us
even more interesting is how this relates to capitalisticnomad's thread on suicide. when one takes life, they are taking billions, not just one

Nah, we play "host" to many more organisms as we decay.

not sitting inside a silk-lined wooden (or other) box, we don't
well, maybe still some of those bacteria that are sealed in the air with us, but it's not like they're going anywhere/have anything else to eat after the remains are disposed of

That's what we'd like to think...truth is, decay goes on whether we are preserved & sealed in a silk-lined box, or not. It is as inevitable as death. Unless you plan to float in a vat full of formaldehyde, your remains WILL host millions of organisms as you rot. Your coffin will eventually succumb to water damage and mold, and the organisms which have multiplied in your remains will escape to reproduce elsewhere.

We are an ecology -
Ecology - Human Body
1: Org Body parts and inorg. pieces
2: Fire Acids
3: Wind Breath
4: Water Water
5: Earth Earthly body
I think that there is no distinction between us and "it".
Inside and outside are no different. The only differences are a matter of scale. Microscopic processes in nature are exactly same as those that are going on on a planetary, galactic or universal scale.
The delineation between "human" and non, is null. The corruption of the human mind begins with society telling us there actually "is" a difference. But when you learn more, you find nothing.
I think Ill stop talking now. Nice thread btw.

I disagree. The difference is in direct vs. indirect awareness. We directly experience that which contacts our particular assortment of molecules, and indirectly experience that which contacts other molecules.

Maybe I'll have myself cryofrozen? Hmmm...

I thought you said that your family would have you sealed into a stainless steel coffin?
Set up your cremation in advance, then the decay process is cut short.

That's the current plan, but hell, why not go all the way and freeze me first. At least then the silk blanket will come in handy.
