does anyone know if hard red spring wheat berries is the same as rye berries?

They're a completely different grain, but I've used em before. It takes a little longer to simmer, but it does fine.

oh good i thought i bought the wrong stuff ... so it is not the same even though it says wheat berries on the package???
is this still as good as rye berries?

okay i have 2 bags of sye berries and 2 bags of this hard red spring wheat berries... should i do the 2 bags of rye berries themselves and do another batch with the hard red spring wheat berries ?

wheat is not as good as rye IME... but it does work...
if you have both do both and compare for yourself...

I personally prefer the wheat berries actually. I don't see much difference between Hard Red vs. Hard White Wheat. I think the larger seeds make for larger air space and that seems beneficial to me. Also, I feel like they soak up more water.
Maybe its just that my rye came out dry.. but i boiled it until about 5% of seeds started splitting open. Then PCed for 1.5 hrs.
