Large fruits

Made five mono tubs, rye & hpoo about 6 inches deep and cased with 1/2 inch of 50/50 with ph 8.
Once cased left covered till myc was poking through, but it did not just poke through, in 2 days it came through the casing all over pretty even, so lightly patched the whole casing and fruited it at %100 rh and 74 degrees and 12/12 light.
Within 3 days had pins but only on the sides and today have very large fruits, like 7 inch big dicks, but only on the sides.
The only thing I can figure out is the casing layer seems to wet. Will this cause this problem and is anything I can do.
I have the Martha open now and the humidifier off.
I guess the question is if I get the casing layer dry will it start making mushies or is it screwed.? Should I dump them and start over.
Any suggestions, thanks

thats weird, seems like that usualy happens when its too dry, that it will only pin on the sides....i'm confused why you have mono tubs in a martha, i'm pretty sure monotubs create their own humidity or atleast alot of it.

yea why do you have em in a martha? weird......they pin where the most moisture is which in this case is on the sides.

dont throw them out. if you got large fruits, pick them when the veil breaks. let your tubs finish their flushes and look up pinning strategies. also ive read that a trash bag in the bottom of a tub will draw in with the substrate, preventing side pinning. be happy you got fruits!

Thanks for the replies, this is only my second poo grow. They are in the Martha cause that is where my rack is. The casing was dripping wet, like when I pinch a piece it would drip. It was not like that till I ran the humidifier, (Im new). Anyway here is some pix's

You are right, that is what I read on here. But the casing is now soaked and they will only grow where their is no casing. The casing is much drier this morning so I hope it will kick in.
My basement stays at 100% rh so the humidifier was a bad idea. Later on and thanks for the reply.

I bet your sub is drying out inside. After your first flush is done read up on soaking that thing. If your moisture content and humidity was on target. You would have a ton of those bad boys. Great job for a second grow. You also may have some more biguns growing sideways that you cant see on the bottom of the tub. I would pull the tub on the side so you can look all the way down. If you have a big shroom rot down there it can lead to a contam.

For six inches of substrate, you should have used more like an inch and a quarter of casing. Most people stick to a 4:1 substrate depth/casing depth ratio.

The latter. When mushroom mycelium finishes colonizing the substrate and casing layers, it goes from veg to fruiting mode and stops expanding. It's normal after picking a flush to fill the divots with fresh casing to protect the substrate, but it doesn't colonize. It just sits there.
Unless you're growing a water pigging species such as agaricus, I see no benefit to a casing layer thicker than 1/2" regardless of substrate depth. RR

6" sub depth doesn't require any more or less then an inch of casing materials...
honestly, i dust the top of my 6" subs with maybe the most, 1/4th inch of casing materials, and patch a lot.
good luck, be patient and learn your casing layer, your pinsets seem wanting.

oh, and those aren't monotubs, they are casings, monotubs look totally different, and serve a completely different purpose.
