The problem is that when someone finds a patch they harvest every last mushroom. Although, mushrooms have a much smaller window for harvesting than apples. I suspect there are lots of Johnny Appleseeds around.. but once they plant the apple trees they keep the locations to themselves.. not in the spirit of Johny Appleseed. Oregon lacks the old hippies that I know are performing this function in some areas of Washington.

Had an interesting three day hunting trip. We had to chop trees that fell down on the road blocking the way out of the park, getting stuck and some helpful locals pulled us up(while the bloody park rangers said good luck not having a tree fall on us and left). Anyway if you're in Oregon I'd say still look. Washington was all frozen for us when we went so we went to the motherland. After that storm Id say it'd be even better for the little saints, make em tougher but getting the parks good luck(bring an axe or just wait till they open everything again). Well heres my finds my buddies will probbaly come in a day or so but we need help IDing as well.
Heres some habitat pictures

This girl looks silly but need help
Stropharia?
These ones werent at the motherland furthur down the coast, growing along cyans. Any ideas?
two days of the catch
the final outcome http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/07-49/682924896-DSC00378.jpg
Get out there and rescue all the blue children. ITs still going very strong keep your nose open and your thoughts still...feel them out. We noticed the dune grasses right of the paths that weave through them in areas where its not too bushy but where they can breathe youll find them and in the woods near by where the pines and ferns are. They like growing right out in the open with the needles or right near a fern for shelter(in the woody areas; of course on the chips as well). Logs and anything sheltering the wind seemed to harbor a saint or two. Give thanks to spirit for all, offer up your prayer...right after I did I found a really active area...Good luck all
p.s. if your going to stash your bag, put it in a really recognizable place. A fern next to hundreds of other ferns your probably not going to find(whoever left that bag of 4 azies...in my friends pile though...hopefully have his catch up soon). My number one rule when hunting, is to keep my bag on me at all times...thanks though whoever left those

That unknown that was growing next to the cyans looks like hypholoma fasiculare. The "stropharia" is a stropharia, and the ringed one maybe psathyrella, not sure on that one though.

I've been checking out a park in Seattle for several days now, but I'm not finding anything. I'm pretty new at looking for actives in this area, but the habitat seems perfect. Lots of woodchip landscaping, lots of rain, etc. Instead of cyans, I'm finding these buggers in the thousands and they keep throwing me off:

Anyone know what these are?
Also find these in the same places, in woodchips:

PS. Found some tasty oyster mushrooms in Washington Park, made a nice meal out of them tonight. So I wasn't totally empty handed.

Watch out for those ones that look like azurescens, but have a tan or orangey pink cast to the stems. They look like gallerina to me(poisonous). Azurescens always have a very white stem with blue bruising. Make sure to spore print too. Azurescens will have a purply brown spore print. gallerina will have more of a rusty brown print. Be careful!
I'm going hunting tomorrow. I'll post a report on Sat. Usually, they don't mind the windstorms too much from my experience. Seems they are designed for that kind of thing.

Tubaria.

Tubaria does look a lot like Galerina, but lacks the ring on the stem.

Psathyrella.
> Heres another one my buddy pulled and wanted to know about,
Those are an Agrocybe species. The thick flesh of the cap and that shade of brown in the gills gives it away.

So, I'm down at the nw oregon/sw washington coast in a hotel right now. we went and checked out some spots. The azurescens are everywhere right now. I'd have to say that it's about the peak season right now. I'm not sure if they'll make it through the impending cold spell though, so I'd recomend looking asap.
