The weather has been really rainy the past couple days here in Seattle, and is supposed to remain so for the rest of the week. Combined with warmer temps, will we see some big flushes soon?

i hope so, i might be late to the game but all need is just one lucky find! question? should i focus on conifer forests or peoples houses and businesses landscaping and stuff and one more thing do most of these mushies blue in the first minutes and would that be a good indicator that i am on the right track. thanks

I would estimate I have spent 100 hours this season hunting in p-town OR and I have not found one cyan. Is portland loaded with pickers? or just limited on patches?

I have spent a fair amount of time in P-town and in the local parks and forests looking for cyans and beaos with no luck. Although a good amount of this may have been premature to the season as I am a beginner, I think cyans in P-town are limited. I am always hearing of out-skirt towns with good luck like St. Helens Or.

BTW thanks nicechrisman thats the best info I've got!

IndianSpirt, the pictures I posted this season were of pretty warped and unhealthy ones. Not the best examples. Here are some pictures I took from last season.

And here are some psathyrella, that look pretty similar but fall apart in your hands.

I think that its the limited patches. We need a Johnny Appleseed of sorts, if you know what i mean.

there are a few parks around portland that i've focused on and hiked around throughout the season but have never found cyans. only some pan subbs. a lot of the parks around here have rhododendrons and i've been checking those out a lot lately. then i go out and search another part of the city on my lunch breaks.

during a rainstorm a few weeks back i found a dozen or so Amanita muscaria. right in the city, it was pretty cool but i'm not at place where i'd like to experiment with those right now.

this afternoon on my lunch break at work i noticed flushes of a few different kinds of LBMs. so yes the temperatures seem to be good for now and there is plenty of water.

In the Portland/Vancouver area, conifer bark is pretty much the main mulch that is used. I have never found it conducive to actives.

Indianspirit, I'm glad I could help you. Best of luck in your hunting. I don't think it's too late at the oregon/sw washington coast. All that nice warm wet weather!

I'll bet that next year you find something. Was it Casgoodie that said for every 90 hours of hunting you may find one patch? Seems accurate to me. Sounds like you are overdue! I found a killer patch last year in Portland after 1 1/2 years of unguided hunting. This year it was unfruitful. Maybe I'll find another next year or it might be another year after that going by the "90 hour rule". I'll just have to wait and see.
