Hey, thanks Wrabbit. You know that forgetting about it will not be necessary. Maybe I will see you out there. Thanks again.

Yeah, couldn't agree more, I'm just so green at this, that i need to explore every possible avenue about the conditions theory. There are so many variables on the conditions it would seem. I'm sure, as stated many times, its all in good time. That time seems to be gone now for my immediate area, but I'm not restricting myself to my neighborhood, i will find what i am looking for eventually, just a matter of time.. As with all good things. Thanks.

Took a little trip to the coast, wasn't too optimistic, but had some other mini-adventures planned if all else failed.

I have found a good majority of my azures in the last couple years growing off dead pine on the perimeter of dunes, I barely even look in the actual dunes anymore.

 And THESE are under willow...

Here is a great example of look-alike pins.
 There is still hope.

well, yesterday i went to one of the lawns i found with blue ringers and baeos. some of the baeos i left had matured and some tiny pins still emerging. it was strange, but the frost seemed to have damaged the blue ringers more than it did the baeos. there weren't a ton of baeos but i managed to nab a few pics. here's a couple popping up next to a galerina:

and then backed out you can see the kind of lawn they were growing in and how they are kind of scattered and random:

and here's a close up of a nice little cluster

and the overall appearance of the lawn baeos (pretty small, but potent!!!)

there's still hope!! pray for rain happy hunting

I found this thread way too late. Are Cyans still growing? It's like 30 degrees out where I live (Oregon) and just rained a bit. Is it worth to go check the rodhies?

Nice finds. I've never looked around dead pines, but I often have good luck under willows(as long as it's not too boggy)
I think that this rain system coming through, we'll probably see some more azure flushes!

I hate to say it but . . . my season may be over. My patch is dead Perhaps there will be a miraculous late season comeback, or late season find of a super patch protected from the harshness of mother nature. One can only hope . . .
In the mean time, Indoor grow season starts soon!!!!!!!

Season's over. Unless some miraculous change in the upcoming weather occurs. I checked one of the most prominent, expansive patches in the city, just a few days ago. I've never seen so many shrunken up black mushrooms, not even pickable. it was a sad sad sight my friends.
While I am thankful for what I did find and collect this year, I'm also admittedly feeling pretty frustrated with mother nature right now...i mean shit, it's still only november..november has ALWAYS been peak season for hunting.

I guess this would be the recent freezes then?
I don't live in the PNW but it might help if people can document the temps and how long it lasted. I've seen the uestion asked a lot, but not much that says > these low temps for this many days will do it

Well, I believe our low temps at night have been around 32 or so, for what seems like about the last 4 or 5 days in a row.
Here's the current 7-day forecast...
http://www.komotv.com/weather
Now you will notice the forecast indicates that from sunday onwards, the weather is supposed to warm back up to Cyan-friendly temps. But how long will that stay steady before another freakish cold front moves in, and more importantly, would it even matter after it's been freezing for so many nights consecutively? perhaps it would be too late.
@cro mentioned something about this being a 'la nina' season i think? meaning that we could be picking well into january or even february. not sure if that's gonna pan out buddy : / but i do like the idea!
Peace.

interesting stuff...32 is right at freezing and usually that's a good frost that doesn't penetrate too far down into the soil. For example, when you get a night of 32 degrees, you'll see the grass frosted and frozen, but go to the root level and it's often not frozen. It was my general understanding that this isn't quite cold enough to stop it completely, but rather temps like 28-29 and below across the board, is enough to penetrate the critical 1 inch or so below the surface
here in the Bay Area, the further you go inland from the coast, the colder it gets, and we will be getting the same air mass here shortly, down to 28 in the interior valleys, but still in the high mid 30's, above freezing, near the coast
I'm sure it's similar in the PNW too, where it will be colder in Skagit Valley (where I lived as a kid), than down near the water in Tacoma.
still, I do think some sort of documentation of general temps over a period of days might help someday, if only so people can know what to expect when it happens again. The season ended when this many days of this many freezing temps happened.
it may not really help that much because even in the PNW you have some micro climates like in the Bay Area, but to my knowledge, this question has been asked often, but not really answered well.
the real question that hasn't really been answered is > how much can cyans take, and for how long? ( before they go into remission)
