Went on another hunt today. My roomate came with me to the Beaverton, OR area and still no psilocybian mushrooms. I found lots of amanitas and shaggy manes but no goodies. Very frustrating...this is my 4th time going out to find spots and so far lots of mushroom sightings, no psyilocybian mushies. Here's my pics:

Here's just a large couple mushrooms...there's a penny on top of the bigger one:

Nice finds everyone, with a few inches of rain in the past few days, I think the season is ready to go big time!
Here are some pics @cro and I took last week...
These guys tore up our hands, damn blackberry bushes

Only got this one pic in before my camera battery died, but it was a beauty of a patch

Had a very fruitful weekend... more pics to come later.

Right here

Lots of mushrooms were up, like these Amanita's:

@cro even found these Amanita's growing right next to the azures

We had an amazing weekend Maybe not quite as "huge" as this trip, but still a blast and very successful.

Hrm some of you like mattso, psily and @cro seem very good at finding these wild mushies...
Where do you generally look when you go searching? I always hear people saying that for cyans in particular go to government buildings, schools, and parks where people have mulched and such but have had no luck at all this way. Been looking around alders and birches but finding only amanitas. I've also looked in forests which seem pretty fruitless for me. I keep seeing blackberry plants in the pictures which means to me that they're not on lawns or anywhere maintained. Maybe I just need to go to Washington this next hunt.

Nice finds Psily! I've been having dreams about them lately. I guess that means I need to get to the coast ASAP. So how are they coming along so far? I figured the lack of posts had been an indication that the azures need a little more time to really get going. Btw, those pics from a couple years ago are ridiculous! Way to go. That pic of them on the bed has been my inspiration since I started hunting.

Haha same with me about the dreams! That's probably the biggest reason I'm so frustrated with not finding any. I've had intense vivid dreams for the past 6 nights straight about finding big patches of mushrooms. The dreams are so detailed and accurate. I went to the coast on a whim because of my dreams but found nothing interesting.

Well.....I went out yesterday to the patch I found those "pigmy cyans" growing a few days ago and I brought my camera to get some good habitat shots. While I was getting pics, I started moving some of the tall grass and looking inside the canopys of the thick tall grass and lo and behold.....cyans everywhere!!!! When I realized that they were all over in the tall grass I started to tread lightly and watch my step. Even moving the grass around, I tried not to disturb the ground, but it was hard not to bruise the shrooms while searching for them in such heavy brush. The ones growing under the canopies of grass, completely covered, had extremely long stems. You could see the mycelium running through the roots of the grass. It was amazing, they were so well hid!!! I know I didn't even find all the ones that were there because I didn't want to smash em up by walking through the tall grass, besides there was enough of them as it is. SO....now for some pics....
Here's some pins coming up through the short grass...

Some little bruised ones hiding in the short grass.......

This is a good example of what most of the Cyans looked like growing in the short grass and how they were hiding.....

Brother and sister in the foreground and mom and dad in the background.....

Early morning streach....

Open the canopy of tall grass and......"King of the pigmy Cyans"

Here's the tall King and Queen of the pigmys, the one on the right was the one in the photo above...

Now this one's for Mattso....Three lone battle scared cyans on the battlefront.....

backed out, you can see they're quite outnumbered and the outcome doesn't apear to look good. Enemy mushroooms moving in and are taking no prisoners. Never fear!! Little does the enemy know the good guys have the last laugh and the upper hand because the good guys have the enemy COMPLETELY surrounded on the outer perimeter......

and finally a parting shot....a shroom's eye view of it's home....

Happy Hunting!!!!

Sometimes, they just find you. I took a short walk around my condo buildings this morning and found five or six patches. I was just trying to get some fresh air to recover from the flu, and wasn't even looking until they slapped me in the face. The first patch was no more than 50 feet from my front door. Most were past their prime, but plenty of good food still out there. Anyone looking in landscaped, urban areas around seattle and still not finding anything really needs to just look harder. They're out there. RR
