Real_poopypants and I met today for a hunt. Started at my place with a gram of cyans fresh from the dehydrator in orange juice. We were tripping pretty hard by the time we found our first patch. There were lots of other mushrooms growing very close:

And here are two cyan pins next to a stropharia:

And the biggest conundrum of the day; a huge patch right in front of the gym window in front of the exercise machines! Ha ha, we were pretty high so RPP and I didn't really care.

Congrats H Wrabbit! I am dying to find a new patch. Way to keep Portland in the game Inspired, I feel I must hunt

I took a drive out to the Oregon coast today past Tillamook. Forgot my camera. Found a bunch of cool mushrooms but no actives *sigh*. Feeling dejected I was on the way home and decided to follow a sign I saw from the freeway for a place that sounded like a government/school type place. Got there and with the last bit of the light remaining in the day found a big patch of amanita muscarias. Not what I was hoping for but it's my first sighting of wild psychadelic mushrooms. I don't really have much interest in amanitas and didn't pick any but there were at least 30-40 mature specimens and LOTS of pins. I also found about 10-20 HUGE monster mushrooms that I have no idea about. The base of the largest mushroom's stem was about the size of my fist and the cap was like half a college basketball size. The thing looked basically like a giant cubensis mushroom. It was growing alongside the amanitas which were under a row of alder trees.
I still feel a bit crappy about not finding anything active yet but it's only my third hunt and my first two were really more just forest trips to see what types of mushrooms are out there in the wild, not really looking for psychadelics. I also got to stop in Tillamook and get some great local bris cheese so not all was lost :-P

wow tis season is quite a blessing. i have picked probably around 400+ cyans this season and i havent even picked my whole patch because there are hundreds left!
i iwsh i could take pics but i have no camera.
for those of you out there that havent found a patch yet, just be patient, diligently keep looking, and eventually
they will find you!

Found some cool mushrooms, today:

I think these are an active Inocybe spp, but not sure (Not an ID request.) I gues they could also be a Cortinarius spp. I have a hard time telling the two genera apart.

Possibly P. azurescens:

A. muscaria:

P. cyanescens:

"Shaggy Mane"

I'm pretty sure these are Galerina Marginata:
