i took a stroll today in the rain and found 4 small patches. a couple of small ones were knocked over by a large limb that recently broke of the tree.
the pics (sorry i always forget to take my digital cam with me when i hunt so some photos are from a camera phone)
1 of the patches

today's harvest

nice man, youre in luck to be finding 4 patches in a hunt session, takes me a year to find 1 or 2. also i would like to comment that a foaf has purchased cyans a few years ago, maybe this is why they are dissapearing? commercial pickers of cyans? im sure theyre out there, how many though?

Found a new patch in Portland today, still none of them seem to be too healthy/non-eaten. That's okay though, I usually only pick mushrooms that are starting to rot anyway.

so instead of using my long fingernails and clipping one at a time, today i brought my scissors and cut clusters at a time. i swung by this morning, took a few pics, then picked a few caps. while i was cutting this elderly couple walked by on a path in the distance, i could hear the lady say, "what is that boy doing?" and the elderly man said "hes one of them hippy folk trying to identify mushrooms"
LOL!
i couldnt help but smile and wish them a happy morning.
heres some habitat of my pygmy cyans! at full maturity, they only get 1/2" to 1" in height.

all in all, and i snipped a few pins while collecting some clusters all in one snip, i harvest this:

 small but potent
gotta love them pygmy's!!!

The only reason this stormy ass rains sucks for me, canid, is 'cause I had to push shopping carts in it for 3 hours today.

Hell yeah, and just before I hit this patch that has a shitload more that's too small to pick, can't wait for the SUN NEXT WEEK!@#12321
So fucking happy, all that wandering hunting the past week has paid off.
(two different sets drying)

Can't weigh them atm, so no estimated weight.
DAMN, so fucking psyched I have a spot that NOBODY knows about. I'm gonna spread the shit out of the spores from my next pick.

good for mushrooms yes. bad for everything else. i love thunderstorms, but this one wasn't a go play in the rain type of storm. i was out the day before in the wind and rain... just not today!

I went mushroom hunting today. Didn't know what I'd find...
I saw this huge congregation of Amanita Muscaria... 30+ specimins - gathered around this mushroom playground..

Then -- I saw what they were staring at.
These big Stropharias were picking on some little brown mushrooms...

Most of the LBMs wer hiding in the woodchips.

Others, like these Phliotina Filaris were like... "Go ahead and EAT ME, stropharias! See what three months of Dialysis feels like!!"

The hostility was palpable... and it wasn't sitting well with the hippy shrooms in the crowd...: They were like...
"Duuuuude"

AND ....
"BUMMER".....

I couldn't help but get involved. I might be a lot of things.. but one thing I AIN'T is apathetic! I was there to assist any way I could... I tried to talk the gentler ones into being more aggressive... "sometimes" I said, "you have to be willing to fight!"

A lot of them just laughed at me.

Still others just sat on logs, watching - totally detached from the unfolding events...

Finally,(thankfully) the KING of LBM's laid down the law from atop his very cool fungal throne...

And the Hippy LBM's from the lawn...

And the wood....

Got together... all the other LBMS's ate them.... and in so doing - realized that bullies didn't matter at all... especially when you could stare at flowers all day.

And MANY MORE came from miles around... to do the same.

And Ain't that the truth, I thought...
The End.
m@, so?
