Good Idea for the park in north seattle. the big one, some fuckin highschool kids are going in and literally ripping the park apart. stomped babies everywhere lol. that park is deader than dead.
im sure you guys can guess what park. anyways me and my friends came across a good medium sized haul 63grams not bad at all. no pics though.

Have had my eyes open for a while but having never seen a cyan in its habitat before, I didn't have a good search image. Keep seeing other LBMs that are not it. Today, I found my first, one medium sized little guy next to a pin. About half an hour later, as I was leaving the place, I stumbled upon a whole patch of pins with a few mature specimens. Woot! My first patch...

well me and CptnGarden took a little stroll today, after not having any luck in the clearcuts and silverdale/bremerton area.
we finally came home after long road trips looking for cyans elsewhere and found a HIDDEN patch here in our town. for reference, and because this area is not mentioned often, these were found near port angeles.

Cptn will get some habitat pics tomorrow on his way to work! we left so many behind!
and this area is fairly hidden and out of the open, no evidence of anyone else there, our very own patch!!!!!

I had the same luck on Sunday. I have a feeling those areas have a lot to offer though.

Nice finds everyone, the season is definitely upon us... pics to come in a bit when @cro and I stop being so lazy. Also my camera has been effing up a lot this season so the quality has been mediocre.
Cheers

The Bounty!

I saw two asian ladies picking mushrooms so i helped out by showing them some of the Honey mushroom patches I had seen while on my hunt. Even brought back a few for myself.

Well, I went out huntin' yesterday along a loooong trail. I came to a developed trailside pit stop with a grassy area. I saw lots of shrooms, but as I walked along the edge I found what I know are actives....at first I thought cyans!!! Then I thought maybe Stunzii... I was going to post an ID request, but i know these are active because the margin bruised a deep blue within 5 mins of handling, but the stem, unlike other cyans I have found, only bruised light blue-green(also within about 5 mins.) None of the shrooms had the distinctive blue ring that stunzii have, and the stunzii I have found before have more of an off-white stalk and to not bruise blue as fast or as dark. They were popping up out of the moss/grass and i'm assuming when they developed the area, under the grass/soil there was decayed wood(the place was surrounded by alders and maples and in fact I witnessed about a 50 foot alder tree come toppeling down in the wind about a 100 yards away from me!!)I guess i've come down to: it's either a less potent strain of cyans, or a potent strain of stunzii without rings(even the young shrooms had no veil remnants and some of the pins had been stepped on and were deep blue-green, like other cyans I have seen) None of them were growing in dense clusters, only in small groups of 4 or 5 scattered throughout the area. If anyone has any suggestions as to what they might be exactly so I can judge how many to eat......here's the pics....
observe blue bruising on margin...

A shot of the gills....observe blue bruising on stems.....

tops of the caps......

any advice you have as to what species/strain, i would greatly appreciate it.

those are cyanescens. it's not too terribly uncommon for the bruising to be less intense than you are accustomed to. most of my cyans' stipes don't bruise too deeply untill they are bent/creased.
