damn no rain for like the past 3 days in everett. Found a pretty decent patch of cyans in a trail though. What does it mean if the stems on some are reallllly blue, and some caps are too on the bigger ones. and i mean like super blue.

Maybe they were beat up by the rain or maybe a dog running on the trail.?

Does this thread include bay area, CA? Even if it does, we've only gotten a day of rain and then the sun comes out again :\

Hey is there anyway to make a patch of cyanescens bigger by spreading spores on the gound around it by taking a sporeprint then dropping them on the ground around them?? Or any other techniques you know of?

My first cyan find of the season was yesterday. chcked an old spot that had apparently been sprayed, but i guess it wasn't, because these things are still there en mass. Sorry, no pics today, i can't find my camera charger, but there were only slight growths at one of my spots....the one that is more exposed to the elements, obviously, had some more moisture and was fruiting already. I'm about to go put the hose on the patch in my backyard as soon as i'm done posting here...happy hunting y'all

Success! Found a healthy patch about twenty minutes ago. Got a solid pocket full of adults and tons of pins will be ready in few days. Cross your fingers for rain

went out looking for cyans and ran across these.......

i posted an id request but nobody has really responded yet, but i'm fairly certain that they are scaly purple gyms (Gymnopilus luteofolius). Check out the bluing on the stems.......

those are not luteofolius.
fortunately, they do appear to be gymns, and from the greening ide say they are active.
unfortunately they taste like earwax and you need about 2-3 times what u got there for something decent. if u dont know what earwax tastes like, you might consider tasting it before you taste these, as earwax is a bit milder.

You don't need to come to seattle. They're all over Everett too. RR

yes, parks and company type areas are good to look in. probably parks are better... Just go around checking out people's yards and church's, water reservoirs, etc. etc. just get out there and get hunting, guaranteed they are in Everett.

so in your opinion are they worth the trouble??? maybe i could make some tea, using 10 or 12 of them?? there are about 50 or so at this patch, and i grabbed these ones for pics. i've never found(that i know of) any active gyms. could they possibly be braendlei?? or aeruginosus?? the bluing on the stem was as fast as cyanescens(within a few minutes).

Im going to head up to the holly farm today to see if i can find anything. Iv been hunting about 4 times this year and still haven't found a single active. I live in Columbia County and its been raining almost everyday I usually just go up in the hills and start looking in the trees for a couple hours. Is there anyone out there that might guide me in the right location

Found 8-9 pounds (fresh ofcourse) over the span of the weekend. Seattle and Whatcom county area. Took some habitat pics I'll put up as soon as I get the cord for my camera.
Lots of young patches getting ready to explode from what we saw. A few more days of rain and cold weather and the pnw is gonna be fruiting in full force
