ive hunted cubes, cyans and azzies. between azzies and cyans i think that the cyans lose less potency when dried and stored. noticed this quite a few times. the azzies, after dried dont seem as potent as they should, and definately less potent than same age stored cyans

Well, that's a bit weird, for Cyans contain pretty much Psilocin, which isn't stable in reaction with oxygen and falls apart pretty fast, so a lot of the potency vanishes. Azures almost don't contain any Psilocin but mostly Psilocybin, which -other than Psilocin- is stable and only falls apart slowly...
Fresh Cyans are VERY potent. So are freshly dried ones. Azures, however actually stay almost as potent as they are fresh for a quiet long time! The Cyans I have from the last season are still potent but by far not as potent as the ones from this season. The Azures I ate a month ago -although almost a year old- were still at least as potent as the frshly dried Cyans...

Cyan's at times may be more intense, but the Azurescens give a better trip for me personally.

Simply wrong. It's a proven fact that Azures are more potent than Cyans, as they are more potent than any other mushroom in the world (excluding fresh Copes)!
It's more or less the other way around. Cyan trips are my favourites as well...

Every year at some point someone has to post this.

Azures lose A LOT of their potency over time. I think MJ thought it was something like half of their potency is gone after 6 months? Then a lot of species have crazy variations in potency. Didn't some guys find some libs that were like 2% psilocybin?

According to that chart, Azurescens should retain most of their potency over time, as they contain mostly psilocybin, the more stable precursor to psilocin.
Psilocin on the other hand, is the unstable chemical which is thought to be responsible for the bluing seen in active mushrooms.

And it does! If properly stored most mushrooms keep quiet a big part of their potency. If just laying around, not packed at all, they can lose a lot of it quiet fast.
This is the first time, that I actually read that this is a comparison of MAXIMUM reported percentages. I've always thought it says something about the common potency, which I thought was HIGHLY doubtful (although this time the Cubensis isn't listed in front of the Cyanescens, which was total bullshit!). Still in my experience (and from what I've read), Ps. Cyanescens is stronger than Libs and Baeos. I too read, that the Psilocybin content of a Ps. Semilanceata was measured at about 2% and as well that a Ps. Cyanescens was measured at about 1.6%. There seems to be quiet a variety of amounts that were measured.

my first actual finds so far this season
just little fellas this time unfortunately, but these pins are part of what should be a very healthy and expansive patch. found with my hunting buddy BitterPill this morning...
these macros were slightly blurred since this area is quite public and i hence felt a bit rushed. enjoy anyway!

pictures of bigger specimens for y'all next time for sure...

Nice pics and congratulations Although "pins" of Cyans and Azures look almost equal I'm pretty sure these are Azures, right?

oh he's doing alright. he didnt get to hunt much last year because he was out of the area attending college (at a place where active species dont grow at all). im sure you'll be seeing plenty of him and his finds this season
and fahkface, they are indeed cyan pins. but i agree, they really do resemble azures in that bottom photo!

i dried azures from last season in a food dehydrater. right out of the ground. The season is already here and the last years mushies are still potent as ever. this is just my finding. I was also told to fill a med. size canning jar with fresh azures and fill the voids with hunny. go through the canning process as normal and you should have tea for days. not sure on the shelf life AFTER the seal has been broken but i imagine that one should use it asap. Im driving to my SPOT this weekend and hopefully i will have some great pics. might be a little early though. ill report monday. last year this particular SPOT yeilded about 50 wet elbows. good hunting!!!!!
