I guess the only answer you'll hear is "Azures". Also in my opinion Azures look a lot cooler AND the fact that they are strongest mushrooms of all, makes them something "special".

hey kickrocks. 'The Woods' is the problem. The Woods is where you go to find good edibles and deer ticks, but the Best places to find psychoactive mushrooms are nearer the human realm. (coincidence? i think not.)
Try city and county parks, well tended, well-mulched places. Alas... it could be said that the closer you are to a police station, the greater the haul. And of course there are the farm pastures where the Semilenceata grow.
But unless you're in the market for Morels and Truffles and Bolletes and all that yummy stuff.... The Woods is not where a shroomhunter wants to go.
***NOTE... red bark and mulch, especially cedar-based mulch is almost a total waste of time.
g`luck!

found so many subbs today, i could probably sink a boat with them,

 subbs
also came across what i thought was the cyanofibrillosa HQ

but after a closer view

bah, how am i ever going to have a philosophical conversation with a galerina?
also found what i believe to be psilocybe silvatica, gelatinous separate pellicle and it bruised slightly cyan on the base of the stem.

they spore printed on my hand

The season is on! I found my local patches starting up - mostly pins so they're still there growing but had a few caps that were ready. Then I found a new place for cyans... holy hell!!! It is going to bring in a ton of goodies this year and it is a pretty isolated hard to get to area, so all the pins I left will still be there when they get bigger! Oh I am so happy!!
Still no signs of azures in my known spots. To answer an earlier question, I prefer cyans but like em both!
Didn't have my camera on the last outing and my battery is dead now so no pictures of my current finds, but I'll have some pictures up soon.
YAY!!

those had a pellicle? a gelataenous one which can be removed at least in part and is clearly stretchy?
they sort of look, based on the apperent spore color to be Psathryellas.

we get a lot of larger than usual to monster sized Panaeolina here, so i often pick them up and even have to look at them closely at times to realize that they aren't Panaeolus.
