personally id leave it at that, and hope for the best...
lets say 50/50 on it spreading... put it cut side up in a sunny spot or under a light if u have one, to help it dry fast...

ok, we shall see....
and I do think the powdered hormone is actually speeding up the callousing process. It's drying quite fast.
Not gonna make it to Lowe's today,but I'll try to get over there tomorrow and pick up the other 2 if they are still there and not dead yet. uarewotueat, of course has first dibs on it, although if is infected with this pathogen as well, I would be scared that it would be a ball of mush when it arrived.

Is there nothing I can apply to the bottom to stop the spread, kinda like a cacti antibiotic? hydrogen peroxide??

alot of people actually dust their cuts with sulphur powder... its a good anti-fungal.

i used it once or twice on rotting specimens... didnt save them though...

the other's at Lowe's where dead or dying too
Although they had a new batch of "Echinopsis" spp. cristatas that looked healthy none had the golden spines of the huasca.
Plus the species wasn't labeled, and this batch is Echinopsis, I wonder if they just now changed their labeling system..
