so which is it? I use utorrent in windows, but i just built a new machine out of spare parts i had and put ubuntu on it...i was bored...anyways, i have finally figured out how to configure dvddecrypter/dvdshrink/ripit4me to work correctly under wine, which is sweet, now i just need a good bittorrent client.

if you have plenty of resources, use azureus. if you find that you never use all the features of azureus, deluge is what i use in linux

I stick to rtorrent.

Azureus eats up too much RAM and produces a general system slowdown. Java is ok for certain things, but this isn't one of them.

rtorrent would be sweet but it doesn't have UPnP and I don't like having to leave a specific port on my router open if I don't have to.

I would recommend transmission. You can run it without any GUI if you want, it has UPnP, and is well supported.
