Um...you mean like their constituents?

The problem isn't these elites. It's the general public who elects them and whines to get more and more services from the government. When the public starts demanding more and more governmental stuff then they have to raise taxes and borrow money. It's the general public who is short-sighted and stupid that is causing the problem.

Huh? I can't think of any instances when the government tried to control my thoughts.

Right, I guess you think Rome collapsed in one day too huh?
The soviet union's collapse was years in the making.

Most people here are not of the age where they worry about the economy overly much.
Aye, and they haven't got a good notion what 100 bucks bought in 1997 and what it buys now in 2007.

This week the new Fed chairman, Ben Bernanke, exposed his long predicted strategy: They will crank up the printing presses to avoid the inevitable pain from the easy credit environment they created. They will sacrifice the dollar. In staving off a market correction they are insuring a terrible market crash.
We know what's going down, and also what's going up. Some Shroomerites will go d'oh! in 2017 when they read back those old posts of ours. After a catastrophy, everybody wonders why they didn't see it coming while the evidence had been there in their faces.
Guys, if you bother to look, so help you google, it'll be clear as day that Vesuvius is smoking and the townsfolk of Pompei are merrily going about their business like nothing's wrong.

From a selfish point of view I am happy that very few can see the global tsunami headed our way. It gives me that much longer to load up on incredibly cheap silver and gold.
Thats evil but I catch your drift. We will be there when the world dashes for gold and the price will soar.
For the skeptics I have a couple of questions to find some answers to.
-is it true that the US Federal Reserve and the ECB print and circulate more dollars each year than economic growth calls for?
-What is the "real inflation" in the US?
-What is hyperinflation?
-Why does Ron Paul (a sane man even if you wouldn't vote for him) stress that some sort of gold standard should be returned to the Dollar?
-What is the Amero?
-How much gold do the Central Banks physically own, and why do they misrepresent this?
-what are the major conclusions of the Cheuvreux Gold Report?
-What is the world silver reserve, and what are our annual silver needs?
- etc etc
There are so many questions and there are so many answers. Do some websearching and find your own.

no, i don't think that. the end of every empire starts from the day the empire starts, so what? but the collapse happened in a few days, rome took years to collapse due to invading forces, SU collapsed from within.

Thats what we're saying: that these are the years of the collapse being in the making.
The ultimate collapse, plain for all to see, may be over in less than a month.

There are several instances of financial meltdowns in recent years. Russia went bankrupt and its currency was devalued. Mexico's peso was devalued. Both of those countries survived.
Now, is America's governmental and consumer debt high? Yes, it is. However, it should be noted that the U.S. federal government's debt is about %65 of the national GDP. This is actually low when compared to other nations. Japan's debt to GDP ratio is like %150 or something. I'm not minimizing the U.S. national debt but the U.S. has vast natural resources and generates a shitload of wealth (the U.S. accounts for roughly %50 of the world's economic activity). Is the shit going to hit the fan any time soon? No. Will it someday (especially with all of the old people needing medical care and such)? Possibly.

Yeah and if the dollar is devalued that makes importing goods not as attractive maybe even start manufacturing more.I say the sooner this happens the better if it takes a long time it could get ugly.
