uh oh

I have problems. I just cleaned and applied a fresh layer of petroleum jelly and now the pc leaks like hell and barely holds 10psi. I think I might have applied too much. I put it on the whole beveled surface. Should I not have done that? Or because it is a steam sterilizer does it not need petroleum jelly?

The user guide that I downloaded said to put petroleum jelly.

I'm letting it cool right now so that I can clean it and test it again. Do I put vegetable oil on the entire edge or just the bottom half?

Thanks for the help.

edit: it's an all american 15.5 quart

id say clean it off and just use the residual jelly, its just there to make sure your lid doesnt get stuck on. to much would stop the gasket from sealing.

im not a pc expert tho so tread lightly. pc's are not to be played with.

Is there a rubber gasket?

Petroleum jelly erodes rubber, or latex at least.  I learned that it sex ed

No, it's an all american gasketless pressure cooker.
