So the people of the great pyramids in Mexico dissapeared around 750AD, after having a 600-700 hundred year civilization based on Eutopia, community and honoring the Gods. They had no written language or individual leaders. The mass grave of sacrificed people may actually have come from their village and not the surrounding villages as was once thought.
In 1519 Cortez and the Spanish fought the Aztecs. The Aztec chief thought the spanish guy was the reincarnation of some particular god and the spanish guy thought the Aztec guy knew where this city of gold was located. The spanish guys says, "we have a disease that only gold can cure" and then the Aztec guy knew that they weren't gods at all.
So this clashes with the movie Apocylypto, where the Mayans are still chillin' when the Spanish arive. Apparently all the Mayans were long gone by this time, and the peoples who capture the peaceful hunters and sacrifice them are not Mayan or Aztec as I had thought from watching the movie but really the peoples from Teotihuacán, Home of the Gods. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teotihuac%C3%A1n
Well, this post was basically to let you all know that I never had a good History class, and I really like ancient people's beliefs on life and origins: that we stold bones from the Underworld and we are cheating the Gods to be alive. That to survive we need to appease the Gods to let us live because life is good and that to sacrifice nature angers the Gods. Not that I'm going to go out and start sacrificing people or anything, but I'd never heard of that belief and like it much better than gift from jesus and sins stuff, wheee, it's past my bedtime.
Happy Friday Pubbers!

The same thing happened in America 500 years after that with the Anasazi. You can still see their temples in New Mexico and Utah.
