Mushrooms! Mushrooms! Mushrooms!

Alright, this is more of a fun question than anything.
You have a $100 to spend to grow mushrooms, what strains do you buy, what method do you use, wbs, rye, etc, and where do you buy it from?
If you want to be more detailed, please do.
I'm going to follow whatever reply is the most logical or atleast the most common. Then I'll post a step by step documentary of it after the first flush.

Wbs = $3 at walmart for 8lbs Which is perfect for 12 pint jars
Poo = Depends on access
Straw = $5 a bale usually
Verm = $5
PmP = From walmart $40-50
Spores $13-15 for 2 syringes from any of our fine sponsors (any strain) A cube is a Cube.

spend the bulk on a good used PC, the rest on rye berries, quart jars, a spore syringe, coir, and plastic tubs.
At least you'll be set for the next go round if you have the PC.

I've always been a fan of WBS myself. My first time I fucked it all up though, bought bird seed with a fungacide, that sucked.

I would try to grow as much as I could with that bill, and I would do it like this...
Buy a greenhouse and a coolmist - $50 at most
Buy 12 pint jars - maybe $10?
Buy 12 pints worth of WBS - under $5
Buy 12 aluminum baking pans - $7
Buy verm/peat for 50/50 mix - $6
Spores and incidental expenses should take up the rest.
Borrow a pressure cooker, prep and inoculate WBS jars.
Spawn the WBS to Hpoo in the baking pans. 1 jar per pan. (notice hpoo is free in this scenario)
Apply casing layer, allow to colonize, patch, and place in the greenhouse to fruit. The coolmist at the bottom of the GH with the flaps rolled up to expose the intake provides RH and FAE.

I can't seem to get WBS prepped right.
I either get too many burst kernals, or can't figure out how to get the water to WBS ratio right. Rinsing is a PITA too, as most of the millet ends up down my drain, and the WBS I have is light on the sunflower seeds, and I end up with none of those in there. I read that a few is good because of the oils, but I don't get any after pouring floaties off. Also, my WBS has some broken corn kernals in it occasionally, and I'm thinking they'll screw it up too.
Rye is much easier for me. The rye I bought is in bulk from a health food store, so it's cleaner than most bulk rye berries, and I know exactly how to go about soaking, cooking, draining, loading... everything just works better for me.
I'd really like to get some WBS going, but can't find a definitive step by step on it like I have with rye. Guess I'll keep looking...

My last grow was with WBS, using the Treasure Coast strain. I soaked the WBS in Mr. Boston Vodka for 12 hours, then boiled it for about ten minutes. Had a shit load of floaters after I boiled it, but still had enough to start 5 pint jars.
I used 1 pint jars, tyvek, rubber bands, 2 coffee filters on each jar, and rubber sealent for the innocculation sites. I had 3 holes per jar.
I then innocculated, stored the jars in the cupboard above the fridge. None of the jars contamanated. All of the jars were fully colonized within about 12 - 13 days, I was amazed.
I then proceeded to casing and came out with some beauties.

Oh, forgot to add that I didn't boil the wbs in vodka, I drained the vodka, and boiled in distilled water.

Well, I guess there is a first time for everything!
PinheadX - there are a few really good WBS teks around, and Agar's posts on the subject are an excellent reference. I'll write up my method in detail if I have to, but its just a hybrid of various teks that are already out there.

never actually got around to that. Boiled before putting in jars, and had too many burst kernals to proceed. That happened twice.
the put seed in jars with water and PC thing didn't happen either, because I moved in the middle of the process and had to dump what I was soaking... bad timing more than anything, but I still want to try WBS. Just wish I could find a cleaner brand, as this one has all kinds of dirt and chaff and crap in it.
I'm not knocking WBS... I'm just saying I personally have had success with rye and more headaches with WBS. YMMV.

that should about do it for under 100$ including PC, spores; tit and humid source bubler, perlite and jars. (not pictured.)
Notice the orange plastic thing for convineince and eventually drying + the pre-made packages of cookie dough, very importaint for cultivation of my legal edible mushrooms i grow with similiar growth peramiters as cubes.
i spend easily 300 on my set up, this stuff was just additional stuff i felt like picking up today
surgical masks gloves baby bottles + silicon orange tubs WBS ziplocks syringes coir bricks mixing thing millit aquarium heater pc distilled water and cookie dough :p
wish me luck

Pinkfloydms is right. Go with the WBS. More bang for your buck. Do not use brown rice flour. I repeat do not use brown rice flour.
Your yield will be much higher with WBS and straw or whatever else you want to use.
Cakes are no good. Casings are great and easy.
B+ is a good strain I think. So is Golden Teacher.
All of this is just my opinion. I'm not saying this is better or what not. I'm just saying what's I have used and what I have seen that is better to use.

I've had excellent results using brown rice flour, actually, I think it works just as well or better, than WBS. Again though, the point of this thread is to get a general consensus on what to use.
The most common answer is going to be what wins my time for this grow. After I finish the grow, I'll be posting a step by step documentary on the grow and a Pictorial TEK.

buy a pressure cooker, put up a wanted post in the marketplace i got mine from a shroomery member:), in trade for a few different strains, its been a lifesaver, one ml from a syringe turns into 6 months worth of hard core cultivating, with the ease of making your own LC's... and the fun wont stop at making your own jars either, you'll eventually start to think about polypropylene bags, sealed with wire ties... for LC nutrient go with 4grams or 4ml of honey per 100grams or 100ml of water for spawn, id go with wild bird seed, (preferably with a low sunflower seed ratio) dont simmer, just soak,12-24 hours and strain 30mins and if your looking for a great strain to try, id suggest MexicanDutchKing www.ralphstersspores.com ...
