also wow sorry to double post you guys... but what are some easy ways of distinguishing cobweb from mycelium.
usually my grain jars are thicker and ropey-er than this last batch but these jars seem fuzzy and the mycelium isnt grey but its definately kinda whispey. i donno i think my grains are a little bit on the dry side by addin too much verm to the jars before PCing. but yeah.
is there a smell i can look for or should i just expect the mushroomey smell when i open em if everythings okay.
ever heard of somebody spawning 6 quarts of cobweb to coir? haha
peace and luv

Cobweb spreads hella fast, if it smells like mushrooms its mycellium, in my experience.

when inoculating from multispore not all germinated spores produce ryhzo myc, some of it can be quite fluffy.
If ur jar colinises in in 2 or 3 days, then it's most likely contam. although i have heard that its uncommen for cobweb to infect jars.

It is. I've had a. niger, trich, and most other common contaminant molds. I've had legitimate cobweb on a casing, once, and as per common wisdom, it definitely was the lack of FAE.
By the time you ever see cobweb in a jar, you'll know very well what mycelium looks like; I wouldn't worry about it.
