Caught on Tape: Police Car Slams Into Fleeing Suspect

Quote:
(ABC7)-SANTA ANA, Sept. 13, 2007 (KABC-TV) - A police chase in Santa Ana comes to a screeching halt as the patrol car hits a suspect then slams into a concrete fence. The incident was all caught on tape, and now the officer's actions are being called into question.
THIS IS GETTING TO BE A DAILY THING. What if he's innocent. what happened to due process and "you are innocent until proven guilty" he could have killed that guy.
The report says that the suspect was 'allegedly wielding a knife and hit somebody in the head with a full beer can' prior to the police being called. That prolly happened, but does that mean cops can just run you down when someone alleges you're violent? There is supposed to be 'due process'...
Amendment V No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime... nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law...
Amendment VI In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.
let me guess...
he deserved it?

Lesson to stupid people: Don't run from cops. Other lessons that should be learned from other threads: Don't fuck with cops, don't antagonize cops, don't bother cops, do what cops say. Deny them searches and admit nothing and get the evidence tossed but don't fuck with cops. Unless you're an attention whore or masochist.
By the way, you have a much better chance of maintaining your facial integrity with a cop than with me if you pull some of the shit these douches pull. Because I don't give a fuck.

That officer seems upset that he is being filmed.
"Hey buddy, are you okay? Yes or no"
No he is not okay, you just hit him with a fucking car! Yet another incident with the police which is very upsetting. Perhaps there is more to this than has come out yet but that video seems pretty damning.

Why is it that everything you post is anti-police? Do you have any objective real life knowledge of police? I'd suggest you do a few ride alongs, most police departments offer it and you would learn alot.

and i suggest you stop making assumptions.
why do i keep posting them? cause they keep happening! check out the date on the article. It's not like im sniffing these out, they are on all the news sites i check regularly. like ABC. perhaps you should email ABC and ask them why they are so anti-police?

Would you feel better if he were a fleeing bank robber rather than a knife wielding crazy? It's the same thing really. If there's a violent crook fleeing a violent crime, they need to be taken down.

So slamming your car into them, while they're against a concrete wall is O.K., aslong as they're 'taken down' right?????

OMG it's happening everyday! it's a police conspiracy!! the new world order police state is upon us and they're going to trample our rights, lock us up, and throw away the key!!1
it's funny how you lump every incident of possible police brutality together as though they're all the same. here is a tip for you: they're not all the same, and things aren't black and white. it is obvious that you hate the police. that's your constitutional right, so hate on. i just happen to think it's a pretty immature, selfish, and in most cases, ignorant mindset.
this one incident happens to be fucked up, and i'm sure the officer will be in trouble. the tasing? the cops were totally right to take that raving loon down. the protest arrest? absolutely nothing wrong occurred. see, the thing is is that you find all these videos that do nothing to show why the cops did what they did. it's hard to justify or condemn anything when there is no context. you just want to post the parts of the videos that make the cops look like out of control monsters. it's borderline propaganda.
let's say there's a guy who has claimed he's going to blow up a building with a cell phone triggered bomb. the cops surround him and eventually shoot him. normally everyone would call them heroes for saving the day. but wait! here comes kotik with a video that only shows the cops shoot someone to death who was just standing there about to make a phone call. damn these evil heartless cops!
it's becoming a daily thing? guess what else is a daily thing. rape, murder, child abductions, car jackings, armed robbery, identity theft, muggings, and people flipping out like lunatics. guess who gets to try to prevent and solve all those crimes while they simultaneously try and keep the law abiding public safe? the cops of course.
another thing, there are a million cops in the US. in all these threads you're making it out to be some widespread epidemic when it's really just a couple bad apples. do you really think that finding a few videos of alleged brutality means anything at all? let's say you find a video everyday (we will allow the questionable ones to count for the sake of argument) that means that your odds of being "brutalized" on video in a given year are 365-1,000,000. most lotteries have better odds. so i'll take my chances with the cops, and call them up if i need some help. if someone robs your house or something you can call the fire department or maybe try the ghost busters.
/end rant

What video did you watch? The one I watched didn't show the suspect was in between the wall and the cruiser. Let's face it, he COULDN'T have been. You saw the speed at which it hit the wall. If the guy had been between wall and cruiser he would have been squished. Literally cut in two. Yet the suspect is sitting there, telling the cop he's fine.
The guy may have been clipped by the car, sure. But he's sure not very banged up. A few bruises, maybe.
