I just hope there's a heaven for true gangstas.
-------------------- “Strengthened by contemplation and study, I will not fear my passions like a coward. My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

If half of those who claim they are going to heaven truly end up there, I'd rather be in hell.

There is no truth.
-------------------- "A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

HAHA. That rocked. I especially loved the carefully inserted phrase 'Mr. Natural opens his eyes' which has more than one meaning, I'm sure.
Quote:
damius said: word, why should god think that just because he made us ( ) that we're going ) that we're going to enjoy heaven
Well all cartoonish/material depictions aside, if God made us, then he would know us better than we know ourselves. I wouldn't get caught in a heaven like Mr. Natural was forced into. I sure hope my 'heaven' isn't like that. If it were, it would be hell.
I really think it's what you make it.
Also, I think Huehuecoyotl's sig is, incidentally, a good response to the problem. The ideal God would be one you could never really see, but leaves a very faint impression of his own creative touch everywhere in it.
Jerry Falwells need not apply.

"To believe in the wide-awake real, through all the stupefying, enervating, distorting dream: to will to wake, when the very being seems athirst for godless repose: these are the broken steps up to the high fields where repose is but a form of strength, strength but a form of joy, joy but a form of love." -George MacDonald

Why not? Is there not the very faint impression of creative touch within them, as well?

What is the philosophic topic for discussion? Is not merely listing a link the same as a declarative statement?

well, since this is now Friday afternoon in the Pub, it reminds me of a cartoon where god is sitting at his desk and the intercom buzzes: 'Jerry Falwell just arrived' and he replies: good. put him in a room with a butch homosexual. he deserves to be fucked in the ass for all eternity.

The truth about you and God, is that there is no god. Anyone thinking there's a heaven or hell is insane, just like the people who ameliorated it for society- which is our downfall. No need to search for answers or changes in the way we think. It's all there in a book. Go ahead, blind yourself, for there's only a beginning and an end. We, as a society, or civilization, were doing so well in the aesthetics and understandings of the nature of the universe, until religion came along. I'm sure you know what religion this was, don't you, Christian America! Can you imagine what we could accomplish without God. Everything would make sense, at least all of human atrocities, and fears.

The truth about you and your "god" is none of my damn business. Problems arise when assholes try and make their "truths" about their "gods" my business.

While you make some valid points, you seem to have let some of the societal backwash of some religions totally vilify the concept of a creator or god...
