they are almost extinct cause when people cut the button off they cut it wrong and either damage the root or cause the root to rot. that and being so slow at growing and being illegal.. its future is quickly coming to an end at this rate.

well maybe they should just take it up with the root then too so Royer doesn't have to go through the trouble to root them

so you are saying pull up an endangered species and relocating it to somewhere where it doesnt belong? Im sorry but i look at peyote as being sacred. This is mainly because growing up i lived 10 minutes away from a reservation and the beliefs they have, have slowly crept into my beliefs. I have many friends that are native americans and would kill me if i ever even thought of doing such a thing. I can understand peyote being cultivated from seed and sold as a house plant but thats about it.
and yes i know you are joking ;] i hope..

I have a bunch of seedlings as you know and now two small pachanoi and 3 lophs are on their way. Will sow my loph seeds this week too. and i've got about 1000 t. peruvianus seeds left I think I'll sow them too. This'll end with my grow-room overrun with cacti

Maybe in the future. I like peruvianus they are purty and grow fast. It seems like those seedlings are more hardy than pachanoi too. I'll buy some large cacti of different species and varieties now and then though.

lol so i hope they turn out as u hoped... so many different variations of peruvianus and hybrids, u wont know for sure until they are much bigger... this is why i collect seed from as many different sources as possible...

yeah u could sterilise the soil like that... or use a fungicide in the water u soak the medium with... i usually dont do either, just have a sprayer of fungicide handy incase any nasties start growing...

what are you planting in? i like to use all sand/grit with seedlings cause mold likes organic bits. if you at least top dress the surface with a fine sand you should not have a mold problem...even with the high humidity. i have had things like dead ants and crap die on my soil and go moldy, but it is easily picked out and stays clean after that...
when do we see some pics?
