this is the LC jar, the yellow/(green?) is hard to see in the picture unfortunately, but as i said it is not what most of the jar is, most of it is white
this is a new lc i made, there are small round clunky things in it ? what are these?
this is my only spore jar i have some doubts on, it just in general looks funky
then note what i have circled in red, there is this small little circular thing that seems to have a slight yellow / (green?) tinge but, not really, but, sort of .

i know
if the jar winds up so that the green is eclipsed by white, is it usable?
do contaminated jars get completely covered with mold or is it just in spots?
i suppose it definitely is green mold though hummm
what is with the chunky things in the liquid culture? this perplexes me.

am i guaranteed that the other 4 jars will contam ?
i will have to boil and recycle this one and destroy the lc,
i suppose eventually i ought to be able to make a good lc, and they only take a few days, but shooting jars takes much longer
HUM!

i'm trying to figure out why the LC's contam
when i sterilize the syringe for them i have simply put the syringe in a pot of water and steam cleaned it, but have never sucked in boiling water and spit it out to clean
is this faulty ? i just now read about the boiling water bit and that sounds much more intelligent, quick, and helpful for sterilizing a syringe than this.
when i make it i put the honey and water in a jar then boil them, then put it all in the glove box and shoot it up after flame sterilizing the syringe needle
it ought not be a problem
the tek i read says to boil the water inside the jar, THEN add honey, then boil them briefly, why, is this necessary?

Wrap you syringes in Tinfoil then PC for 15 minutes at 15 PSI. Generally I PC my LC mixture at the same time as a few empty syringes - 15 min.
Also- what kind of filtration do you have on your LC jars?

i put medical tape over the incoulation point and cover it with tinfoil
for some reason the seal is not airtight and shaking it has let liquid out
and i know this is most definitely not good.
i killed the bad jars, and one of the lcs that i did in a regular 1/2 pint jar formed an immensely strong seal somehow, perhaps from the extensive boiling
if you boil for a long amount of time does this cause the jars to seal heavily so that this is not an issue?
of my spore jars i have one that is fully colonized now and 2 that are very close
some of the even most heavily stalled looking ones have apparently made a lot of headway
this is all due to flipping
are you supposed to un-flip the jars once they fully colonize, or will they grow faster upside down for pinning?

very odd, the jars should seal wihtout tightening the lid very tight, should only hand tighten it, when using micropore tape, tinfoil shouldnt be necesary, only when pressure cooking. there is much debate over weather flipping jars actually speeds up colinisation, its suggested if jars stall. theory being that co2 is heavy and builds up in the bottom of the jars, flip the jar and the co2 then falls to what was the top.
i flipped 1 of my jars and it seemed to start colinising again, other people have reported no change. try it and see.
i thin u may have gotten a little confused, once they are 100% colinised u give it some extra time to get a good hold of the substrate (extra 5-7 days) then they are birthed (recomend dunk and roll) to the fruiting chamber where u initiate pinning by introducing light humidity and temperature change.
If ur are are sterilised properly and ur inoc precedure good, then chances of contams are minimal, have not heard of boiling longer sealing the jars better, the jars should already have a good seal.

in the videos they show that the mushrooms begin growing inside the jar and that is how you tell when to birth them
my procedures are good because the jars with normal spores are all fine as far as i can tell
so i just wait 5 days and then birth regardless of whether mushrooms start to grow in the jars?
