My first contamination
    #7432447 - 09/20/07 01:49 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Well i've had 1 jar that i suspect was contamed, it never grew any myc (bad syringe) it showed a couple of tiny rugby ball shaped green things that looked like spores. That got tossed.

I inoc'd 4 jars with a new syringe from spores 101. It was my first syringe that came without the needles attached so it may have got contamed when i put the needles on?? ill find out though when i make my next batch.

I was away for 2 days and just got back, checked my jars and 3 of them were riddled with the green styff and a little myc growth. I put them straight in a pot to steam (im gettng a pc very soon for my next and future batches)

My verm has been sitting in the hall for about a month - should i bake it in the oven to kill anything that may have gotten in the bag, do this to the brf awell before i make up my next batchs.

I also dont have a glovebox, but it turns out i have a suitable container so i will be making 1 before my next attempts to eliminate another possibility.

on the plus side i have 1 cake in the fc, with another 1 very close to being ready followed by another slightly larger than 1/2 pint guy (which may need to be cut slightly, it may be stalled - 5% left no contams)

sorry i tossed the jars in the pan right away as the amount of green stuff was rather frightening
