What is the IDEAL casing/substrate depth/ratio for casing rye?

Say you are using trays that are 7 inches deep to case rye berries, what is the ideal casing and substrate thickness?
Bottom casing depth? Substrate depth? Top Casing depth?
Now let's forget about a 7 inch casing tray, and assuming you could use any depth you needed to, what is the IDEAL depth of said three layers?
Is there an assumption that the bottom layer need be identicle to the top, although performing very diffferent functions?
Also, do you recommend the same moisture content for the top and bottom, cause I was thinking the bottom casing layer could afford to be more moist than the top.
Furthermore, couldn't a bottom casing be of almost infinite depth, as in nature?
Finally, do you recommend casing the top and bottom with 50/50+, or would you consider using different casing materials for the bottom than the top, since their jobs are vastly different?

no bottom casing layer no more than 4 inches MAX substrate depth for STRAIGHT rye grains supplement with half as much vermiculite as there is rye search for 'rez effect' 1/4th to 1/2 inch casng layer MAX on top
top with 50/50+ is fine, or whatever you find best. once again, no bottom casing layer, its just not a good idea.
and you can make substrates more than 4 inches when you start spawning to a bulk substrate. until then, 4 is the max, 1-2 the min.

bottom cassing layers don't really serve a purpose that I know of. you use up energy colonizing a surface with little to no nutrients and won't be cropping from. I think I remember seeing it in magashes rye tek, but I don't know what the point was supposed to be
