Hey shroomerites!
I have been reading as much as i can about overlay but nothing i read sias what actually causes it. Does the mycelium on the top die due to dehydration? Does it die from lack of nutrients? Does anyone have a good pic of an overlayed casing?

There are many thing sthat could contribute to overlay. But the main one is too much carbon dioxide.

When, on average should a strain that is very aggressive(PR) be put into fruiting? Once the surface is colonized?
Thanks for the help Fd

Hey FD,
>>When, on average should a strain that is very aggressive(PR) be put into fruiting?
According to the veterans here...they all say to put the casing immediately into the fruiting conditions from the time you case the PRs. They will definitely overlay if you incubate them first...because they're so aggressive the pro's tell people to put them right to the fruiting chamber.
Let me know how it goes as I'll be casing PR's next.
Peace,
