I think I found some mushrooms.
    #7431575 - 09/20/07 10:00 AM (16 years, 4 months ago)

The first one was growing in full sun, on a ceder stump, looks to be a brown velvet lact;

This second one, were very tiny in size, the caps themselves couldn't have been any bigger then my smallest thumbnail, they were' growing on a what seemed to be a hardwood stump mixed in with conifers and in a shady moist spot of the woods.

Thirdly is some delicious trumpet oysters popping out of a living oak tree;

Finally, what I found here is a polyporus fungus, on decaying conifer wood, not entirely sure what flavor of wood, the smell was almost of marshmellow's very sweet. It bruised a dark almond color, almost instantly. The tops have some redspeckling going on.

:boobs:

Those black ones are awesome.

Did you happen to see what color the gills are?

My guess is pinkish and they are something from the Entolomataceae.

How does Leptonia parva sound?

If I remember properly, you often leave mushrooms in their place after photographing them. In that case you can bring along a little pocket mirror and put it under the mushroom so the gills are in the same shot.

my guess is lime green. And not gills, pores. A black bolete. I forget the real name.

lol a mirror is a good idea, usually If I'm not gonna eat it or it doesn't spark my fascination to a point I leave it be.

That is not necessarily true. They sometimes have a flat pileus, they sometimes have an umbo.

Though, I can't find any species with a fuzzy enough cap...

If thats not it, its damn close.

I looked through Entolomatoid Fungi of the Western United States by David Largent and there are at least a dozen Leptonia species that look like that, half a dozen Entolomas, and a couple Nolaneas.

at first glance, I once thought this to be a kind of Lactarius Fuiginosus, now noticing the pointy top maybe its a kind of velvety cort.
