Is there any correlation between weak LC and weak colonization...

Hey, I was just wondering if one has a weak LC, then inoculate a grain that was well prepared, is it going to make the colonization time a lot longer because the LC was weak? Or will LC's colonize at the same rate no matter how healthy they are, it just depends on what spawn they were inoculated in?

My example is my Karo LC, both of my half pint LCs formed about a marble sized clump in the bottom, but they worked and they aren't contaminated. I'm just gonna switch to malt/dextrose if it speeds up colonization/means more rhizo growth rather than tormentose.

Thanks.

Your weakest possible LC is probably ten times as strong as it would have to be to successfully colonize your substrate. If you can see any mycelium in there, it's good to go.

Possibilities include genetics and other factors, but my guess is some minor difference in substrate conditions.
