Raito to bulk substrate

Due to a high contamination-to-house ratio, I am asking this.
Since the more bulk substrate (coir) you use, the more mushrooms your get, correct? So if I get contamination while waiting (or after sometimes) for my bulk substrate to colonize, I should use less bulk, for faster colonization times, right? Is there a point where I wouldn't even need to use any bulk substrate?
I figure, if contamination takes a certain time to set in, if you could map out the time it would take for you personally to colonize your bulk sub, thus beating out the contams.
OR
Does the contams start right away (probably) and just aren't showing for a few days. So if you were working in a high contam condition, it wouldn't even be worth spawning to bulk.
Like, would it even be worth spawning 4 jars of spawn into 2 jars of bulk or less? I know it would still be helpful, but should It even be risked? Or could it colonize fast enough, a few days maybe, to help with the flushes a bit?
Sorry I'm rambling, but I'm soooo infuriated about spawning, then trich poping up every time right before the first flush. Any help would be appriciated, thanks.

Wow !
4 jars of spawn to 2 jars of bulk substrate .... that's really a high ratio.
I have done 1 part WBS spawn to 3 parts Hpoo bulk substrate and the spawn ripped through the poo so quickly it was amazing. If the ph is good, you shouldn't have a contamination problem before your bulk substrate is fully colonized.
Good luck,
Rico

If your properly pasteruized coir is getting contaminated prior to first flush, then the contamination is coming from your spawn.
You don't need to spawn to bulk. You can case and fruit the rye directly if you choose. RR

perhaps it is my pastruization methods. I put the bluk into jars, place metal lids on them loosely, but one has a hole for a cooking thermometer. I then turn the oven on to 170 untill the thermometer stuck inside reaches 160+ then I wait an hour then turn it off.
I'm sure it's my bulk having the contams, my jars are fine. I use one jar to do the myc-water tek, and that I use to do the next batch of jars. So I know it's not the spawn.
Either the mixing process is stirring in a lot of contams, (I even use a semi-glovebox. Or I'm thinking my pastruization methods are skewerd.
That's probably it. Thanks RR. I didn't even think of that for some reason...
Also I though ph had nothing to do with bulk?

I used monotubs myself with 10lbs of poo in each. For spawn I use 9 half filled quart jars of colonized wbs. 7 go directly into the substrate and the other 2 are for the top. My tubs usually colonize in 4 days, 5 days tops. I like to try to get the colonization time down as low as possible.
I don't really know what your contam problem would be though. As long as your ph is right and the substrate is getting fresh air you should be fine. I would just follow RRs advice.

I would consider the pasteurization method to be sketchy at best. Even if it managed to maintain the right temps for the right duration of time, internally, you still have the problem of a convection oven drying the hell out of your substrate ruining the moisture content.
If you're only doing small amounts like that, you can...
Create the substrate mixture and bring the moisture content up to field capacity and load into quart jars.
Wrap the tops in foil, no need for the lids, and place a thermometer in the center of one of them. Place them in a large pot and fill the pot with (cold) water so that the jars are roughly half submerged. Place a weighted place on top if they're trying to float.
Bring the pot to a boil and immediately shut it off, leave it where it is, cover and walk away.
The boiling water is 212(F) but it will take time for the jars to absorb that heat, but as it cools it will equalize the jars and keep them between 140-160(F) for an hour or so.
If you search for RR's pasteurization tek, it'll give you a much more indepth description of the process but it's never failed me yet...
