Few fl finds

Found a few copes, most were sunburnt all the shit was dry. We walked a few acres of field and then left it and cut through another one and found these.

Most likely gonna catch next round. Should have some more pics somewhat soon, better mushrooms too . First hunt so far this year, so I decided to keep these and dry them cracker dry. Some of the dried ones have some white on the caps, wonderin what that is, think it might be mold? They are pretty dry so Im not sure.

nice work.... I'd throw those older black ones in a tea and add a few tea bags... dont look good for eatin'. If the white stuff on the caps is fuzzy then its no good... Ive eaten a little bit and not had any trouble but if youre worried dont risk it.

Man, ive powdered a couple dark ones like that mixed with alot of good ones wasnt bad (But this whole load was black ones ), the white isnt really fuzzy... Im not too sure about it, it looks more like white spots, like maybe it was fuzzy and died, or its like some white shit stuck to the cap I cant tell... Its way to dry to have something growing on it now, they are like cracker dry LOL. I kinda wanna cut off the caps but not sure.
heres the best I could do

There's a possibility that it might be mold.
How did you dry them?
By the way, nice finds. Copes are my favorites!

never eat those black ones bro , i mean , they died at one point and im pretty sure they rotted before they dried , however even if they werent moldy most of the psilocybin would degrade due to the florida heat bro ..

While i was in the grass, i picked them..

Ive eaten them before, only 4 had signs of a mold/whiteness. im just gonna take out the white lookin caps and boil the rest.

I agree. Boiling will kill the mold but also extract any mycotoxins that may be present.

If that was mold its already dead, mold could not survive on that. I removed all the suspected moldy parts...

The dried mold is quite alive, I assure you. Just add water.

Hahaha, yup. Mold does not die when it dries out, just as most mushroom mycelium does not die when it dries.
Furthermore, I am much more concerned about Bacterial contamination, than mold. Bacteria causes the mushrooms to turn black and soggy, and ingestion can cause food poisoning. If it smells like trash, it is.

No scent whatsoever, most of the time I used to find copes, they would be black from spores, and some would be dry from the sun. The black acctually rubbed off a little on one. I was just worried about the mold lookin stuff on the caps you think the stems from those would be alright or toss those too? Only a few caps showed the white, not thier stems, but im thinkin mycotoxins might run through it(if it has a mycotoxin)? i dunno.... It doesnt really look like nothin too serious... Im still doubting whether its mold... looks more like ingrained sand with a smooth feeling. I kinda wanted to toss them while in the field... I wanted to see what it was first.

Well, it is nearly unidentifiable in that state, so I personally would throw them away.

Its been almost two years since ive gotten to pick a wild shroom or even hunt for that matter I used to leave them behind when I found tons... Finding none is a little different than finding tons.
