OK I think I actually got a san pedro at wal-mart but I'm not sure. The small one is what I suspect as a pedro, so any info on what it is, or help me learn things to look for would be awesome[image align=left] [/image] [image] [/image] and heres my cacti setup for when it gets to cold outside [image] [/image]

you might want to let them go dormant for the winter unless you have a HPS or Halide.

And for helping it hibernate can I keep it outside during the winter? It ranges from -25f to 40f in the winter, the humidity is low , and the elevation is 6500ft. I can just as easily put it in the garage in a dark closet but just wandering if outside would work

nobody can positively ID a cactus that shows traits of more than one species. About all you can ever know is the genus.

There are spiny pedros, as there are non-spiny torches.

Sorry but I disagree. Only because the most popular pedros are almost spineless it doesn´t means they all should be like this, specially when you grow from seed rather than cloning it through cuttings. Spine size is a trait like, let say, the colour of our eyes, it varies even among brothers.
This specimen looks a bit too dark green to be a pure pedro indeed, but it still could be a peruvianus. To say it´s a hybrid only because the spines are neither small or large is untrue to me.

everyones been looking at the backberg "pachanoi" for too long... now most people think that if its not akin to that particular clone which is most commonly seen, then its not a pach, which is wrong...

Middle picture far left is Pilosocereus azureus.
The other columners like already stated are more than likely T. Pachanoi or some sort of Pach hybrid.
Either way noice specimens...

So if I just let it grow, and say it grew fairly fast would that narrow it down as to what it is?

I have found baby Trichocereus bridgesii cactus at Buckee's in Texas before. And regular san pedro with branching limbs in front of a Mexican Restaurant. Not sure, but the one guy stated that you can determine the Genus. I thought all cactus of genus trichocerrus had mescaline. Correct me if im wrong gentlemen

Most of the plants in Trichocereus do not contain mescaline.

Well I moved it to my window sill, and in a few weeks it's going to sleep. I think it looks more like a peruvian torch but I don't see wal-mart selling those, or is just me? And even if it's not it complements my collection nicely
