i was just wondering if i can eat this or not
* Habitat- grass
* gills- tanish brown
* stem- 2-3 inches
* cap-freckled burnt pattern on top otherwise tannish

*Print- tannish brown

The pics are a bit blurry so I can't tell what it is, but it is not active and is very unlikely to be edible.

Are you sure that is the correct spore print color? Try making a couple prints on tinfoil.

It would also help a lot if you could borrow a digital camera and turn on macro mode to get good close up shots of the gills and top of the cap.

Pics are hard to make out, but I think there's a good chance those are honey mushrooms. Spore print should come out white in that case (as Alan also suspects, judging by the tinfoil remark :wink:).

That "tannish brown" colour is likely staining, not spore deposits. I agree, the spores are likely white. Rub your finger across that print, and i bet you'll get a white residue on your finger.
