Dry shrooms in oven?

Just a quick question that would be better put here where people know alot about shrooms, in which i won't have to worry about some newb dishing out bs like he knows what he's talking about.
Hope you don't mind mod.
Can i dry cubes in the oven? I set the temp at 200 degrees and i turned it off before it got that hot. I then placed shrooms in there ( freshly picked ) for about an hour and i came back and where they were sitting on the pot. They had turned a little black where they were touching the pot, i'm guessing from the heat of the pot.
Should i be aight? I mean as long i keep the temp down below 200ish and keep them in that dry atmoshpere, they should dry pretty fast yes?

you're most likely going to lose some potency my question is: why not just fan dry them? it works like a charm and your guaranteed no loss in potency

Yeah you should definatly use a fan instead of risking potency loss by dryng with heat ,even if it is below 200.

Air drying is best man-- just keep them under room air through a fan for a day or three-- they'll be 90% dry at that point-- which is quite well enough for most circumstances. They won't mold at normal temps and will keep for quite a long while-- months+
But, If you're anal like me, you'll transfer them to a container filled with Drierite desiccant after that, and they'll be crack-in-half dry when you're finished.
Heating isn't necessary unless you are in an unusual hurry, and while I'd love to have a food dehydrator with adjustable temps, it's not worth the money to buy one when a regular fan and a one-time purchase of Drierite (which can be re-used forever) gets the job done perfectly.
