can't do it... can't subject myself to crappy popup ads to try and ID blurry pictures of mushrooms with no spore prints...

read the rules and revise your post before implee has an aneurysm

> I just want to find out what these mushrooms are.

All of these are hard to ID because of the low detail on the cell phone pictures and the lack of spore print information. I will try anyway, but don't complain when you find out they are wrong, you get what you pay for.

Species one could be a Laccaria if the spore print is white.

Species two could be an Inocybe if the spore print is tan to brown.

Same for species three, and I am unable to make a guess for species four.

Inocybe will have a fiberous cap and a distinctive bad smell, like semen or corn husks.

> The only stoney shrooms in Nfld are Liberty caps, and there good but I was hoping maybe there are others.

There are others, specifically several Gymnopilus species and Panaeolus subbalteatus, which are very widely distributed. It is also possible that you could find a cold weather Psilocybe like P. quebecensis, but very unlikely.

Thank you for the posts. I did some spore prints with these shrooms so you can identify them easier. Maybe you can take a second look at them.

I would love to find out what kind of shrooms these are.

Thanks.

> Is species 2 Psilocybe Cyanescens or Inocybe aeruginascens ?
> My best guess, the wavy caps and all.

It is definitely not Psilocybe cyanescens. I can't see it well enough to tell if it is an Inocybe or not.

99.9% of Inocybes are poisonous because they contain muscarine.

Psychoactive Inocybes are very rare and difficult to identify, even expert mycologists stay away from them due to the large number of poisonous mushrooms in the genus.

> I'm getting more pictures later today, I'll post some more in a few hours.

Excellent. In many of the above pictures, the camera focused on the background rather than the mushrooms. One way to fix this problem is to set the mushrooms on the background before you take the shot, so there is only one place to focus.

> Inocybes are tricky, from what I read.

They sure are. They usually require a lot of staring through a microscope to find the exact species. Psilocybin containing Inocybes are very rare, the standard hallucinogenic mushrooms are much more common.

> Are there any Inocybes that can make you I'll or worse after having physical contact with them?

No mushrooms are that poisonous. You have to swallow at least 25% of a mushroom to become poisoned.

Although a couple complained that touching Omphalotus illudens irritated their hands.

I still can't tell you any more about species one, but looking at the new photos and spore print, I am pretty sure species two is Psathyrella. Three is probably Marasmius oreades. If that isn't it, check Laccaria.

> Buy a damn field guide.

Hey be nice to the newbies. You were a newbie yourself just last week, you must still remember what it is like...

> Bump again.
> Desperate to know these mushrooms.

I think I already gave you just about all the information that can be determined from the pictures you posted.

If you are still unsure about some, wait until they come up again (add water every other day maybe) and take some good pictures of both pins and mature specimens, add them to a new thread.

yeah inactive for sure, I usually find these little jerks on my lawn. But its weird because one day out hunting and in with liberty cap fields i found a big mushroom looked like a bolete except the spongey gills and it was bruised blue. not sure of what it was though.

Yeah..

For now I'm gonna follow Alan's advice, get more info on the mushrooms, and start buying and reading some field guides.
