When you say caps dropped do you mean veil torn? Wait until the cap is flat. Then allow the print to drop for 24hours. If you took the prints too early, before the cap flattened the spores may not have been mature enough. Other than that, are your incub. temp. right, and is your substrate moist enough?

no offense, but i've never heard of spores not being mature enough... i think you just need to keep waiting and keep temps right.

Shroom_head17 I believe that the problem is you innoculated your jars right after making the syringe. Some teks say that after making the syringe, spores should be let to re-hydrate for some time. Maybe it only slows things down or maybe they lose that critical period after innoculation and might fail to germinate due to other contams breaking in. Wish you luck Plankton

N8. No offence taken but wanna bet on that? Only after the prodution of the four haploid nuclei within the basidium are the spores pushed out and surrounded by a hard sheath and thus the basidospore. There is a reason why most resources reccomend waiting until the veil is ruptured or just before. However, I don't think the spores themselves are the problem in this case. I would look towards Condils suggestion of spore taking technique and innoculation method.

I might have been alittle vague in my explaination of what i did. I first covered the caps and made a print(it was good and dark) Right after i took the print, the spore were still wet and clumpy, i scraped a good bit into my jars taking as many procautions as i could(glove box, ect...). and now my jars are about at 80degrees and still nothing, i could get my hands on a syrenge should i try inoculating again, Oh yeah by the way i used aliens substrate. thanks for all your time i appreciate it - shroom head
