Question about Straw Dunking

I have some edibles going. I need to dunk it before I can initiate another flush. Should I wipe the casing layer off? When I picked the last mushrooms, the casing layer was damaged a bit. There are alot of little pins in the casing layer as well. I dont want them to rot.

No. You don't need to dunk cased straw. The purpose of the casing layer is to supply moisture. You'll get a second flush from straw, but it won't generally be as large as the first. Discard the project after second flush because contamination usually sets in by then. RR

I want to try edibles in straw .. I have seen RR's laundry basket and straw log teks from his videos but how are you using straw? in a container or in a plastic sleeve..

you can buy rolls of poly tubing at uline or other places of the sort. just cut a piece as long as you want tie one end load it up tie the other end....
some people prefer impulse sealing but as RR has pointed out many times a tie works great.

you're right uline isn't ideal for small scale growers.
one of the sponsors sells 4" and 6" poly tubing in lengths of 20 and 100 ft http://www.mycosupply.com/cgi-bin/shopper.cgi?preadd=action&key=POLY01
hope that helps
