maybe because it associates working out with being sleepy? IDK, never heard that before.

I've never heard that but I have heard essentially the opposite...that if you can't sleep, doing some exercise before getting into bed can help...

Doing exercises before bed can have opposed effects, at least for me. Some times they make me able to fall asleep right away but then there are other times when they are so invigorating that I find myself unable to sleep for hours... But to answer your question, I have no idea what you're talking about

I think it's because you will have trouble getting to sleep.

exercising before you try to go to sleep ? Mainly for the fact that it gets your heart pumping , aswell as secreting small amounts of adrenaline into your body, I also think your body burns fat for energy during exercise and makes it harder to go to sleep ?

Well if you're really out of shape like me, sleeping after a workout is just a given .

When Ive rode my bike and get back home I naturally feel tired but not sleepy until I get over the phase of my body winding down, after that I start to get sleepy much faster than I would have if I didnt ride a bike.
So perhaps doing some exercise that doesnt excite you, simply jogging or ridding a bike will tire u out, but if your playing a sport in some kind of competition you might put more amounts of adrenaline in your blood from the excitement/pressure making it harder to sleep, but at the same time you would exhaust yourself more so who knows where the right balance of physical exertion would put the best sleepy feeling.
I opt for jogging/running and biking, no competition to excite your mind, just something that slowly drains you of physical energy.
Oh wait this post was about why its bad to exercise before bed, hell if I know

This discussion has been brought up on lots of bodybuilding forums... we essentially concluded that if you don't have problems sleeping afterward, go for it. If you can't sleep, then don't workout before bed.
Whatever floats your boat. Just make sure to get in some protein and carbs after you workout. Most serious lifters try to allot enough time for post workout nutrition and a small post workout meal around an hour after that. For averages Joes, it probably won't make a difference either way.
