A man who allegedly tried to hide a quantity of cannabis in his mouth after seeing some police officers on Redcliffe Street was yesterday placed on $2,500 bail by Magistrate Keith Thom.
It is alleged that on the 15 Sept., Dwayne Fredericks was riding a bicycle on Redcliffe Street from west to east.
Knowing that the street is a one way running from east to west, the police stopped Fredericks. According to reports, upon seeing the police, Fredericks allegedly popped a silver foil in his mouth. When the officers asked him to open his mouth, he allegedly refused and began to chew.
After the police struggled with the defendant to open his mouth, the silver foil containing cannabis allegedly fell out of Fredericks’ mouth. The defendant is now alleging brutality saying that he was terribly beaten by the police and as a result was left with a swollen face, hand and foot.
He told the court that he filled out a medical report and a prescription at the hospital, but the police collected them and they were never returned.
Fredericks is now charged with resisting arrest and possession of cannabis.
The matter was adjourned until 30 Jan.

See, those incidents, besides being exploited by the media, are times when stupid people made stupid decisions and killed themselves. But the substances themselves have never killed anyone, unlike alcohol, tobacco, and just about any other substance out there.

when someone jumps off bridge it's because it's his/her decision. driving while intoxicated is also a person's decision. drugs aren't demons whispering into your ear to kill your grandmother.

You know what? If someone wants to hit the bong and eat shroom soup whilst in a car, I hope they die. Reckless behavior like that gives sensible drug users a bad name, and I do seriously hope you do not associate the vast majority of cannabis and magic mushroom users who are alive, healthy and better for having the experiences with stupid fucks who'd probably put their fingers into a wood chipper, if it didn't have the sign on it saying "HAY! DON'T PUT UR FINGERS IN HERE, IT WILL RESULT IN MANY PAINS."

Interesting. We've always been thought to go against the flow of traffic to avoid bad drivers from behind.

I have a sneaky suspicion that this man was on those cops' radar to begin with. I mean seriously, since when is riding a bicycle on a one-way street illegal? Why would they put him on $2500 bond for a small possession charge??
These cops knew Fredericks from prior incidents, and there is more to this story than we're being told.
On another note though, this man was clearly doing nothing "wrong". "Illegal"??, maybe...but wrong?, no.
I also want to know what he was doing with a small amount of pot wrapped in foil? I mean, who wraps their pot in foil? was he smoking a foilie?

I was actually wondering the same thing, I did a double-take when I read that line. I guess the police had to use SOMETHING to pick this guy up.

Well If someone freaks out on shrooms and jumps off a bridge its clearly a result of the mushrooms...I'm all for drugs but I don't see an a good argument that drugs are 100% safe especially one that causes you to trip

no, the PERSON jumps off the bridge. he can't handle the trip, which is the price you pay if you underestimate your capabilities/power of the shrooms.

It is NOT clearly a result of the mushrooms. That person made a DECISION to jump off the bridge. I don't care how much you want to say they'd never do it if it weren't for the mushrooms, but how do you know? People need to take responsibility for their own actions. People need to make other people take responsibility for their own actions. People need to realize that people need to help other people take responsibility for their own actions.

I'm pretty sure the majority of deaths related to tobacco are from DWI-like situations. What you should do is avoid this argument all together because anyone who is slightly intelligent realizes this is a flawed argument.

And as far as this goes... bikes follow traffic laws. You think bikes are supposed to stop at lights and stop signs but go against traffic? That would make no sense at all. If you're in the road on wheels you follow the same laws the cars do.

Actually, you are supposed to ride a bike with traffic, and walk against traffic. Either way, who the fuck cares. A cop can pull you over for lucking suspicious, so when they do, don't start shoving drugs into your mouth. It's just dumb. The cop is obviously going to talk to you- and chewing on aluminum foil does not look suspicious at all.
edit: Damn it, jewunit beat me to explaining the bicycle law. anyways, L'Shanah Tovah jewunit
