using old dehydated colonised mex-a agar plates

yesterday i found some agar plates from a mex-a sclerotia project i once started and never continued.
the agar in those plates all shrunk about half an inch from the outer edges of the petri dish, clearly due to drying out.
now i wonder, can i somehow revive that myc by simply throwing it onto a new agar plate or what ? ive read posts about using dry mushroom tissue and basically, this is nothing else but dry tissue right ?
so, what to do in this case ?

There should have been a few stones develop. If so, cut one in half and lay the broken part down on a fresh dish. If not, it's probably not a good substrain anyway, because mex a seems to begin to form sclerotia by the time the dish is colonized. RR

oh i didnt make that one clear it seems, i transferred only the sclerotia from the original dish, and so on and so on.
might want to take a look at the thread: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5676075#5676075

I've had the same thing happen and just by applying the dry agar to fresh agar worked fine.

are you referring to sclerotia forming mycelium or just any mycelium ?

With any mycelium.
I'd think it would work as easily with sclerotia forming species of Psilocybe's, or most of the sclerotia producers for that matter.

this is how the plates look:

not all of them have shrunk to my positive surprise.
ill simply prepare some rye berry jars and throw some pieces in there.

Let us know how this goes. I have some very old agar dishes of garden giant and a couple other edibles that I'm curious if this would work with.
